Does any of you clever lot think that it is possible to create a .cab file, like the ones that Midnight has recently produced. That contain all the images for a full theme ie. caller display etc. and install them and change the registry setting to point to them?

I think this would be great for advanced skin makers and newbies alike. :lol:

There are some great skins ie Longhorn which have not downloaded as i would have to change all my reg. settings back to original as i have full xbox theme, just a thought!

yeh, its easy enough to do, its just up to the skinners to do it :wink:

you can have a single cab that installs all sounds (including keypad (except the darn Dtmf* key cos of the * in the name, bah, i'll figure that out sometime hehe)), all images (home screen, + extra screens) and includes other tweaks, like the speedup tweaks, corrects the ringtone loop, anything really.

midnight, this might be a clue. For example Excel VBA does not accept some symbols in the code because they are "system" symbols (Ie: "). But for them there is a special code ie: 'Chr(13)' or whatever the symbol number is... Anything symilar on SP platform??

Also it takes a lot of time to do all those things in a cab :lol:

(I mean to create the INF, i was gonna include all the sounds in my Longhorn Theme but just ran outta time (and motivation :oops:))

1 webpage != 350+45meg

The webpage displays the info perfectly well and can be displayed in a few seconds, as apposed to undergoing a huge download for one page of info ;p

Being a complete novice with programming, I have been customising my phone by just copying the .gif files from the windows folder that relate to calldisplay, info etc. (all file names are found on midnight's excellent site!).

I edit the pics in fireworks / photoshop- thenb just copy&paste them back into the windows folder, replacing the old gifs.

This is just a loophole around actually editing the registry - but it's easy for beginners to make some changes to the look of the phone other than just skinning!
