Guest arunhallan Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 Is it possible to make an app that can change the function of the voice recorder button 2 somat else? How many ppl regulary use it? I know id use it to use task manager as its the app i use the most
Guest Speedy Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 Yes that would be great. Something for you app wizards to think about
Guest midnight Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 we were discussing this the other day, would be great if say, the speaking clock used the record button, as not many people use it
Guest Carnivor Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 you must be able to use is cos the gameboy emulator does.
Guest midnight Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 yup, should be easy to create a small app that runs in the background that disables the record button and applies it to run any other app you want (presuming you can do this with an application running in the background)
Guest florin_m Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 As I said at The Event in London: To change what that button is doing go in reg/LM/Software/Microsoft/Shell/keys and there u have the definitions for the keys  Have fun now
Guest caio1 Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 But how do they work? I have 4 Keys: recorder, calendar, contacts and tasks. But to which button are they associated? Thank you. Caio
Guest midnight Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 errrr, hold on, that dont work tho does it? i looked at that ages ago, and it doesnt change the record button
Guest midnight Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 in fact, if i remember correctly, these are registry settings that are left over from pocketpc2002 (the recorder on pocketpc is called hotvoice) and aren't even used by smartphone (could be wrong tho)
Guest arunhallan Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 yeh and there's not seperate keys for tasks etc so im not sure bout that :?
Guest madu Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 Indeed that seems to have calendar and contact keys.... By the way: MS, you serious tw@s!!! What the hell are you doing leaving all that PPC rubbish in the new SP OS??? And plenty of 'while-in-development' files...
Guest midnight Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 theres roughly a meg of useless files in the windows dir, i'm hoping our tweaker program can fix this
Guest PsychoDave Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 sounds like its gonna be a mighty useful app  ;) any idea of when you might be releasing it?? take it easy :(
Guest midnight Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 errr, may take a while, building lots of functionality into it
Guest madu Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Coming back to the point... Is the button function hard-coded into the phone?? I'm getting damn pissed trying to find anything relevant in the registry!! ARGGHHH!! Anyway, that's the only thing I found to be of interest, have a look at: HKLMHARDWAREDEVICEMAPKEYBD
Guest midnight Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 my guess is its built into the os, but not held in the registry (even though florin thinks otherwise), and so, you can create a program to disable it, or change its function, but you cant do this through the registry (i think)
Guest madu Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Actually, spacemonkey mapped it in Gameboy didn't he?? And the source is availible, right? Would that help at all?
Guest madu Posted May 9, 2003 Report Posted May 9, 2003 Guess noone cares bout this.... Anyhow, I found another possible hint, but in dead end again. Maybe this would make sense to you or you know what this does: HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftQuickApp Cheers madu
