Guest PaulOBrien Posted October 10, 2012 Report Posted October 10, 2012 Amazon have updated their Kindle Fire pages to include both ad supported ('with Special Offers) and ad free ('without Special Offers') versions. Losing the ads will add £10 to the purchase price of both the Fire and Fire HD tablets. The change doesn't make it clear whether the ad free option can be purchased later or must be purchased with the tablet and it also remains to be seen exactly how the system works. Is it tied to a device? An Amazon account? Something else? Hopefully we'll find out when the devices ship in the UK on October 25th. For more details see the Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD product pages. Click here to view the item
Guest Simon O Posted October 10, 2012 Report Posted October 10, 2012 Not too bad to pay the extra £10 but personally since the ads only show on the lock screen I would put up with them. And of course once the tablet is rooted somebody will find a way to remove the ads.
Guest hecatae Posted October 11, 2012 Report Posted October 11, 2012 two software versions, one with ads in the lockscreen app, one with out? Not too bad to pay the extra £10 but personally since the ads only show on the lock screen I would put up with them. And of course once the tablet is rooted somebody will find a way to remove the ads. it's already been rooted, Amazon failed to fix the bug sparkym3 found in ICS on the Transformer Prime
