I've been eyeing some of those Chinese phones.

The Xiaomi Mi-1s seems rather attractive. But is it good value I wonder for around 320 USD?

Hello,

I was looking for similar alternatives and i found the ones you mentioned and additionally Huawei G330 and Zte Blade 3.

Desire X and Samsungs should have excellent build quality, maybe better than Huawei or ZTE. There

is not that much information about g330 oder blade 3, but i think all of them have quite similar hardware specs.

At the moment I would take the Desire X or the S advance ( but only if we HAVE a Jelly Bean update and not just a probable one ;-) )

I would suggest going for GNexus or S Advance..

GNexus-Cause Nexus phone and great dev support

S Advance-Good phone and confirmed JB

Also what about SIII Mini?

Its basically a S Advance with upgraded OS and RAM lol

Thanks for the tips. Huawei and Zte are making decent phones but its still chinese in my eyes. I like my Blade a lot but if iam going to buy a new phone i want htc or samsung.Galaxy s3 mini is too expensive for its hardware and i saw it only in white.

I would like GNexus but it has terrible battery and thats important for me.(i would buy razr maxx if i could :D )

So Desire X or Galaxy S Advance?(i like htcsense bit more but, ..jellybean?that sounds good:) )

Edit: htc said that jellybean for desire x is coming "very soon"

There are plenty of vendors shipping Xiaomi's across the world. Try www.android-sale.com

I've also been considering the Jiayu G2 quite closely. 1Ghz dual core CPU, 4" IPS panel, dual sim and 2000mAh battery. Rather nice actually. All for about a 100 pounds.

Galaxy nexus has no battery drain ....

My opinion - Dont even think twice but get the Galaxy nexus . Listen To me and dont get any HTC device(Good quality but many htc phones have some problems . I moved from blade To Galaxy nexus and i am glad i did ;) . Having a great hybrid Rom installed gives me 1.5+ day battery (normal use ) you can buy a battery 2100mah which gives you few More hours battery :)

Galaxy nexus =great phone = great support = fun :)

That site (android-sale.com ) is full of chinese crap*s and xiaomi`s are expensive. So Iam considering Gnexus, Galaxy S Advance, Desire X.

2100 mah is the same as original battery ! And its a battery from Samsung . The other Batteries with 2500+mah are from other companies and they are thick . I was asking 3 months in which one should i get until someome told me " get the Gnex " " the battery lasts like every other phone" " get the Gnex ,you will not regret"

And he was right !

Xiaomi's products are good value for the hardware on offer.

I find it strange that you would call Chinese stuff crap on this particular forum, especially since:

a. The ZTE Blade is a Chinese product and ZTE a Chinese ompany.

b. Paul O'Brien (Modaco's founder) keeps publishing regular new threads called CIDotW - Chinese Import Device of the Week. See here for example: http://www.modaco.com/topic/358444-cidotw-zte-v970/

But it's your money. Spend it as you will. Cheers!

Okay but 300$ for Xiaomi plus shipping seems expensive for me..im not calling every chinese phone a crap, just a few ones that i saw on android-sale. I know zte is chinese too and blade is great phone for its price. Huawei makes good phones and tablets too. Im just saying that site is full of cheap fakes.

Well my Ace 2 just arrived today and after 2 years of an OSF it seems like a big step forward! Agree about the coming SG mini being too expensive for what it offers and the Ace 2 seemed like a relative bargain.

Will see how it performs...

Oh without a doubt there are cheap fakes. So avoid them and go for something that's well reviewed and sold by vendors who have good reputations.

I've just purchased a Jiayu G2+ from Aliexpress.com for USD$168. It should arrive in a week. Hopefully it can take over as my primary mobile device, and give me more room to experiment with my Blade!

Looks good for £105! What's the import tax situation and is there any custom rom scene?

I live in Singapore so I pay no tax on items priced less than around $USD330. I'm not sure about other places.

There are no custom ROMs available at this point in time. But it was reviewed here on modaco a few days ago so here's to hoping developers take notice. For now I'm banking on the fact that the phone is easily rooted and comes preinstalled with an almost vanilla stock ICS ROM.
