Guest Mattmac Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 Hi, Does anyone know what the 'U.FL' type rf socket (just above the screw on the right between battery and SD slot) is for exactly? Presumably it's for an external antenna for either the phones WIFI or Mobile phone signal? If anyone can shed any light on this or maybe there's a technical diagram or spec out there somewhere? It would be handy to know for wardiving/weak signal areas etc.. ;)
Guest MioCZ Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 (edited) It is for GSM/3G signal, same port as on Nokias (i do not know exact type name), external antena works perfect for me for GSM 900/1800, not tested 3G on 2100. EDIT: Antena has MCX90 conector. Edited October 15, 2012 by MioCZ
Guest yayane Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 EDIT: Antena has MCX90 conector. It is not MMCX connector ? MCX and MMCX are not the same.
Guest MioCZ Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 (edited) No, IT IS MCX90 (on antenas cable), mmcx has center pin on socket side, mcx has center pin on conector side, so and antena manufacturer sell it as MCX90 conector antena Edited October 16, 2012 by MioCZ
Guest yayane Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 (edited) Thank you for your explanation. It is only for external antenna like this ? 9DBi GSM antenna MCX male http://cgi.ebay.fr/9...#ht_5766wt_1017 Edited October 16, 2012 by yayane

Having looked at this link I think it may be a MMCX connecter, but I cant be sure. https://www.google.ie/search?q=MMCX+connector&hl=en&qscrl=1&rlz=1T4SVEA_enIE364IE364&prmd=imvns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=wwx-UPbeHc6ZhQeauYHYCA&sqi=2&ved=0CCUQsAQ&biw=1366&bih=533
