Guest PaulOBrien Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 One of our merry Twitter band has sent us a screenshot below of Carphone Warehouse's inventory system, showing a £389.95 price tag for a SIM free black LG Nexus 4, with white to potentially follow later (currently no price). This is otherwise unconfirmed at this time... but it looks like it could be legitimate. Click here to view the item
Guest le_lutin Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 With only 8gb of storage on board, it flipping better be cheap!
Guest BigAlUK Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 I hope so. But it's looking like another messy Nexus launch. Getting my SIM free Galaxy Nexus last year was an ordeal with Phones4U. They wouldn't sell it to me without a 30 day Vodafone contract, which I immediately phoned and cancelled under the cooling off period. Such an unnecessary rigmarole. Would be nice to just buy it from Google (e.g. Play Store) like I did with my Nexus One.

Would be nice to just buy it from Google (e.g. Play Store) like I did with my Nexus One. He's a hint and how I did mine. Called P4U store and asked if they had any instock. Went down to the store and they refused to give it me Sim Free. Then I explained that I called Customer Services who said I could pick it up Sim Free in store, and when I called the store to check the stock, they said it was in. They simply turned around and said "Well if Customer Services have said its OK, then you can have one." Walked away with a Sim Free phone
Guest spences10 Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 If that's the price for the 8GB model I'll take one Doesn't mention anywhere in that pic the size though does it?
Guest le_lutin Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 If that's the price for the 8GB model I'll take one You don't think you'd regret only having 8gb storage? In fact, it's not even 8gb, probably more like 6gb which you can actually use. 8gb will be no time in filling up (for me anyway)
Guest Sere83 Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 I sware everyone in the Google offices is smoking crack constantly. The nexus line was originally mid range devices. Now they decide to actually go high end but make it look (and probably feel) cheap and cripple any hopes of it selling at all buy not including 4G and putting a pathetic 8gb of storage in it. When this is your flagship phone no wonder android is seen as the 'cheap' OS. Literally might as well start redirecting customers to apple.com. Complete retards
Guest The Soup Thief Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 This is interesting too - with CarphoneWhorehouse doing a bigger boob http://www.techradar.com/news/phone-and-communications/mobile-phones/nexus-4-release-date-and-specs-revealed-by-online-retailer-1107221 Of course, the 8 gig storage is a great idea, provided you have the infrastructure to facilitate cloud access everywhere We don't, and nor will we for many years yet. Google et al, please wake up to that simple fact. kthxbai
Guest spences10 Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 I can manage with 6GB storage, I'm only using 1.3GB on my GNex right now everything else is in the cloud
Guest BigAlUK Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 The Image on the CPW page show Android with a centred time in the status bar, another iPhone-esque change :\
Guest Michealtbh Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 That's too expensive if it's for the base 8GB model. I could live with 6GB usable storage (I have 40GB space on Dropbox and unlimited data) if the price for the device was right.
Guest The Soup Thief Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 For me & many others it ain't so much about not having cloud storage - it's the certainty that when I need the data I'll find I'm in a not-spot and my film watching / music listening ambitions will be thwarted. Am on the tram into Dublin (a decent sized city w supposedly good connectivity) right now and my data speed's up and down like [insert profane analogy of your own]. Anywhere rural you can forget about it (making those mobile Wifi sd drives a good work around - albeit one you shouldn't need!)
Guest comicbookguy Posted October 27, 2012 Report Posted October 27, 2012 LG Uk website has manual pdfs for 16gb and 8gb variants http://www.lg.com/uk/support-mobile/lg-LGE960# if the 16gb variant is £389 I'm in straight away, but even if it pushes it to £410 its still £90 less than i paid for my GNex......
Guest omegavesko Posted November 1, 2012 Report Posted November 1, 2012 (edited) 16GB: 279, 8GB, 239. Yup, I imagine most have known since Monday. I'm very pleased with the fact that they didn't "convert" from USD by replacing the dollar sign with a pound sign. For reference, the American prices are $299 for 8GB and $349 for 16GB. Guest plegdroid Posted November 1, 2012 Report Posted November 1, 2012 £279. 00 straight from Google, very, very tempting.
