Guest belmet Posted October 30, 2012 Report Posted October 30, 2012 the honour two looks decent apart from the fact it is huawei :(
Guest timfimjim Posted October 30, 2012 Report Posted October 30, 2012 Yep I'm not getting another Huawei. If it was by someone else that price looks awesome though
Guest JHsaucy Posted October 30, 2012 Report Posted October 30, 2012 Quad core phones are getting cheaper and cheaper, hopefully next year we'll see a few £100/200 q. cores in the UK
Guest Curlie Posted October 30, 2012 Report Posted October 30, 2012 i hope a nexus 4 will be under the christmas tree :D
Guest alwyn Posted October 30, 2012 Report Posted October 30, 2012 Better specs than s3, half the price. Might get one myself next year.
Guest ju88a Posted October 30, 2012 Report Posted October 30, 2012 13th is gonna be a lucky one for me. Getting and HUAWEI can kiss my eBay account
Guest JHsaucy Posted October 30, 2012 Report Posted October 30, 2012 5.5 gig is way too small, 12 gig would be enough but only just. Why'd you have to cripple yourselves google :(
Guest tillaz Posted October 30, 2012 Report Posted October 30, 2012 Quad core phones are getting cheaper and cheaper, hopefully next year we'll see a few £100/200 q. cores in the UK zte have already announced a £99 quad core tegra 3 device. with 1GB RAM... fingers crossed it hits Europe... zte would be insanely stupid not to make this world wide http://www.mobot.net/zte-u950-launches-china-offering-tegra-3-performance-99-49484
Guest b4da55 Posted October 30, 2012 Report Posted October 30, 2012 I think they would struggle to cope with demand! Could be the start of something big!
Guest belmet Posted October 30, 2012 Report Posted October 30, 2012 yeah those phones are cheap but so was the g300 and look at the s*** support we got. at least with a nexus device you are guaranteed the latest and greatest from google.

Guest Jamie :) Posted October 30, 2012 Report Posted October 30, 2012 I'd love a Nexus 4 but decided not to bother because I have to buy driving lessons in a month or two :( 8GB tablets are fine, but an 8GB phone isn't somewhere I'd like to go. I have around 4gb of music on my phone, plus 1.4gb of photos and other stuff on my SD card.. I couldn't live without an SD card, just so much easier for content management and whatnot. I think I'm going to get the Galaxy Ace II, Seems like a nice phone, a lot faster than the G300 anyway from using it in store! Plus, it's only £150 ish in Phones 4U..
Guest Malthus Posted October 30, 2012 Report Posted October 30, 2012 Yeah I'm probably going to get one. 8gb storage sees a pointless way for Google to save money though That's a quite deliberate move on Google's part, rather than a means to save money. They don't make phones for the good of their health, after all.
Guest Pondlife Posted October 30, 2012 Report Posted October 30, 2012 Whilst the technical reasoning makes sense, their manipulation of the N7 market by bringing out a 32GB version later shows the real reasons as I stated earlier. I don't think they manipulated the market tbh, the prices were seen as compelling and very impressive at launch. I think the main reason we now see a 32gb model is the Fire HD, and possibly they were surprised by sales of the 16gb over the 8gb.
Guest igors_s Posted October 30, 2012 Report Posted October 30, 2012 (edited) maybe interesting for some UPDATE: and another: Edited October 30, 2012 by igors_s
Guest MrPuddington Posted October 31, 2012 Report Posted October 31, 2012 They explained the reason for leaving out. As much as I would miss the extra storage, I can totally see their point. http://www.androidce...have-no-sd-card That is ridiculous. You could still have the single volume for the internal memory, and use the SD card as an additional FAT volume for media files once it is added. And I have to agree, a single volume for example on the G300 would be very very nice, but I guess that is a new feature of Android 4.2?

They've been doing single volumes since the Galaxy Nexus on 4.0. It's just no other manufacturers have been adopting it.

I don't know which one is worse, transferring files to and from PC via proxy that makes it slow as via wi-fi or the fact that having 8/16GB as internal memory somehow removes the possibility of adding SD card slot for the possibility of adding more storage. Truly amazing response from google. They better hope that most people are as dumb as they think they are. protip: charging 50$ (nexus 7) or 150$ (nexus 4 16gb) per 8GB has never been a better business. Guest JHsaucy Posted October 31, 2012 Report Posted October 31, 2012 Think I'll wait and see if the zte u950 comes to europe before I decide to get this
Guest eLJay Posted October 31, 2012 Report Posted October 31, 2012 I'll stick with my Huawei G300. Okay it's not perfect and it's not the latest and greatest, but the battery life is good and except for a 32gb class 10 micro sd card failing on it (the cards fault) there have been no issues on it for me. I'll move when the specs are better and the prices lower. Or I'll pick up the previous nexus (i9250) which I still really do like.
Guest 00Mark Posted October 31, 2012 Report Posted October 31, 2012 for anyone gutted about the lack of external microSD (like me) the huawei honor 2 looks like it has similar specs for around £180 (if it translates from yuan) 2GB RAM qaud core microSD slot 4.5 inch 720p display price: 1,888 yuan / £188 link >> http://www.engadget....olshare_twitter Meh, I probably won't buy Huawei again, not after the ICS update s*** that they pulled on us with the G300. It's only thanks to developers like you that we have functional and current software on this phone. Not to mention the questionable build quality of Huawei... I'm still kinda worried about the dreaded "blob". I'll stick with my Huawei G300. The previous Nexus is only very slightly cheaper, and still no removable storage... what advantages does it have over the Nexus 4? what an epic reason. Exactly, their argument is completely flawed. I don't know how they expect anyone to believe that. I'm still tempted to get a Nexus 4 though, cause I'm not worried about storage space (only used about 6GB of the 8GB SD on my G300, so I wouldn't use 16GB), but £40 for an extra 8GB storage is ridiculous... The problem I can see is the number of times having a removable SD has saved my data: bricked phone > remove card > copy NANDROID to PC > extract photos, apps, SMS database Is there gonna be any way to do stuff like this when it's not removable?

I think you're kind of forgetting the heavily subsidized nature of the device. Samsung Galaxy S3 with slightly worse specs costs £400 unlocked at the moment for 16gb version. Nexus4 will be £260. if anything the 8gb version is too cheap, not the other way around. The problem I can see is the number of times having a removable SD has saved my data: bricked phone > remove card > copy NANDROID to PC > extract photos, apps, SMS database Is there gonna be any way to do stuff like this when it's not removable? of course there will be. nandbackups are stored as files in a folder on internal memory just like they are on sd card. do a nandbackup, copy files to pc and keep it save. Guest Malthus Posted October 31, 2012 Report Posted October 31, 2012 The more I think about it, the more likely I think it that I'll get one also. I don't regret getting the G300, but I doubt I'll ever bother with a Huawei again unless I hear their reputation on the software side of things drastically improve.
Guest grizzlyflea Posted October 31, 2012 Report Posted October 31, 2012 if ZTE are smart then they'll make a European release of the new u950 and then this g300 can kiss eBay's backside
Guest Johnnyd1979 Posted November 1, 2012 Report Posted November 1, 2012 (edited) Next month I'll be giving my G300 (with Infusion ICS) to my gf as an excuse to buy the N4... My only doubt is the 8gb or the 16gb version. I have wifi connection 90% of the time plus 12gb free on dropbox. So, for such a price, I couldn't care less for the sd card...
