Is B940 in fact more current than the recent Vodafone official release?

I installed ICS from here because it was looking like Vodafone wasn't going to bother with official version

The version i installed says ......B940

the recent vodafone release says .....B936

am i to conclude the obvious - that i already have a current version or am i missing something?

Like, have Vodafone tweaked it, ironed out some bugs without changing release number?

Your version is newer. 944 is even newer than that. Both improve on 936.
