Guest W0jt1 Posted November 8, 2012 Report Posted November 8, 2012 hello. im thinking about osd about my next phone, but i was wondering about windows compability. osd got atom x86, so will it be possible to run normally widows 7 and normal windows apps on it, like netbook? or maybe ubuntu x86 version. is it possible to have full functionality of windows on phone?
Guest i am not a hacker Posted November 8, 2012 Report Posted November 8, 2012 Not a chance until we have thethe bootloader unlocked.we don't know when that will happen
Guest Simon O Posted November 9, 2012 Report Posted November 9, 2012 You really want a full Windows desktop on a 4 inch screen? Seriously? And no it won't happen even with the 'unlocked' bootloader. Ubuntu you could possibly do though.
Guest Posted November 9, 2012 Report Posted November 9, 2012  well if xp wont run right in dosbox I seriously doubt win7 will, ask rickywyatt, he tried it on his one x too and it took a long time to even boot,
Guest Simon O Posted November 9, 2012 Report Posted November 9, 2012 Problem with that is the CPU used in the phone doesn't support virtualisation so it'll be really slow even with a native x86 virtual machine app. Ubuntu will be possible though. The Nexus 7 version replaces Android though so I'd like a dual boot.
Guest Posted November 9, 2012 Report Posted November 9, 2012 Could ubuntu boot from sd card on a partition
Guest tilal6991 Posted November 9, 2012 Report Posted November 9, 2012 Probably that's what will eventually happen.
Guest itzram Posted December 6, 2012 Report Posted December 6, 2012 Guys, What about dual-booting with Windows 7.5/7.8 ? Of course, feasibility when the bootloader is unlocked finally.

Doubtful I'd have thought but since the bootloader IS still locked a moot point. Are there any Intel inside Windows phones?
Guest itzram Posted December 6, 2012 Report Posted December 6, 2012 The HP ElitePad 900 which is a tablet running Windows 8 runs on the ATOM processors (the next version to Medfield)
