despite using the latest version of IE on XP with all cookies enabled and no firewall MS or otherwise, temporary internet cache empty, I am completely unable to prevent the link (http://developer.orangews.com/orgspv/comdef.aspx)

from either opening a carbon copy in a new window or, occasionly, a new blank page called defaultx.

For a week I have been trying at all times of day and night, have had no clues from you lovely forum members, and had the customer service gentleman for the orange developers site who kindly replied to my emails shrugging his virtual shoulders.

Would someone who does not have this problem be prepared to take my details and imei number and do it 4 me ?

I am tearing out my hair and chewing the carpet

yes, it's that simple. You cannot load the .aspx page directly, you have to load it by clicking the link on the page I posted above.

this is the most confusing nonsense I've come across.

I usually go through to that link from the beginning of the website.

which I have as a bookmark.

Just now with all firewalls up it worked perfectly.

loaded metalion demo and it recertified my phone
