Some Samsung phones can't read my SMS's

Well, since i bought this device, even in Android 2.3, I've noticed that some old Samsung phones can't read my messages. I thought it could be somehow normal because of the gap between technologies. However, I've also noticed that the Samsung Gio can't read either MMS's and SMS's. So far, only Samsung seems to have this issue with my messages.

Is it only my device, or is it a general incompatibility? Is there a way to fix this?

Are those messages with any special characters, with diacritics?

No, simple plain text. And a MMS with a picture, with no text whatsoever.

It seems a problem involving a different (or buggy) implementation of the sms protocol. Dunno, maybe using an alternative sms app would do the trick...
