Guest schkinx Posted November 20, 2012 Report Posted November 20, 2012 (edited) update failed .. please try again later :( progress bar gets half way then the little green man falls down . I wonder if its failing because i'm using an SD card and the partition layout has changed ? Edited November 20, 2012 by schkinx
Guest Ribs85 Posted November 20, 2012 Report Posted November 20, 2012 Too small for a Jelly Bean update, I presume. Maybe it's a patch for the root exploit we've all been using?
Guest schkinx Posted November 20, 2012 Report Posted November 20, 2012 could be Ribs . gonna try and unroot , clean ics install and see what happens then
Guest i am not a hacker Posted November 20, 2012 Report Posted November 20, 2012 OK I have updated from the XOLO ICS ROM and there is no noticeable difference

Guest stephen m Posted November 20, 2012 Report Posted November 20, 2012 Is there no information about the update in the software updater ? edit: could you upload the update zip, look in data/fota Anyone else seeing this update as I am not ? I'm seeing it. But same error, i.e. Android with red explanation mark, and then reboots. File's 27mb?
Guest Ribs85 Posted November 20, 2012 Report Posted November 20, 2012 This is looking like a bodged update...
Guest ashutosh00074 Posted November 20, 2012 Report Posted November 20, 2012 I didn't get any update of size 27mb I am getting the old updated ics of size 299mb :-)
Guest rickywyatt Posted November 20, 2012 Report Posted November 20, 2012 please don't update as you mite loss root
Guest Posted November 20, 2012 Report Posted November 20, 2012 OK I have updated from the XOLO ICS ROM and there is no noticeable difference Anymore feedback on that ? do you still get root ?
Guest Simon O Posted November 21, 2012 Report Posted November 21, 2012 If you have rooted or made any other modifications to the system such as using microSD then the update will fail. You will have to flash from the full Xolo ICS ROM then let it update. This is because patch updates run checks on system files before updating. I've been following the ICS ROM updates on a test server and the changes between versions are minimal. Some changes I have noticed are down to the libs in the system. Looks to me like improvements to the ARM translation engine as well as the replacement of some ARM-only libs with native Intel libs. Oh and the usual system app updates and framework updates. And still 4.0.4 So if anybody wants to update for us and attempt a root that would be helpful. I'm still without my phone or I'd do it myself :( BTW might be useful for somebody that has updated to pull a copy of the newly updated system using adb. Then we can run a diff on the updated system and the original Xolo ICS to find the differences then package them up for people to use. Just an idea.
Guest i am not a hacker Posted November 21, 2012 Report Posted November 21, 2012 I updated from Xolo ICS WITHOUT root. It doesn't mention anything about the update nor does it have an update log. So what would you like me to do? Btw, I don't know how to use adb at the moment and I haven't installed anything on my PC to do so... Yet
Guest Posted November 21, 2012 Report Posted November 21, 2012 I think the only thing that is on everyone's mind is can root still be obtained, so if you could try and root with rickywyatts tool that would be helpful, you can unroot with the tool if you do not wish to keep it. I looked inside the update zip and the only change I saw was some libs and google chrome x86.
Guest technomole Posted November 21, 2012 Report Posted November 21, 2012 I can't install the update, it fails every time, so I thought I'd flash the phone with xolo ics (using rickys tool) but it won't do it, I get the same error as with the update, red triangle of death, even trying fix brick and a factory reset result in the red triangle of death ... so it looks like I won't be able to update.
Guest Posted November 21, 2012 Report Posted November 21, 2012 Do u have root still ? And if you have xolo update on sd card you can go into recovery and reinstall.
Guest technomole Posted November 21, 2012 Report Posted November 21, 2012 Do u have root still ? And if you have xolo update on sd card you can go into recovery and reinstall. Yes still got root, tried it with root, without root still no dice, I have the xolo update on the sd card and it won't run it, same red triangle of death. Can't seem to get the phone into recovery either, just sticks at droid boot and stays there.
Guest Posted November 21, 2012 Report Posted November 21, 2012 (edited) When at droidbot, push power + volume up to enter bootloader menu. If that fails then the problem is this :( accidental or deliberate who knows ? Edited November 21, 2012 by Guest

Guest Simon O Posted November 21, 2012 Report Posted November 21, 2012 I doubt his problem is anything to do with the update as he says it didn't even flash for him. Something else is wrong on the phone. jikobutsu: Is the update a patch update like the Orange ICS or does it have the full files inside?
