Guest fixit Posted April 11, 2003 Report Posted April 11, 2003 Can't find other posts about this, but having reported this to Orange I'm told it's a known problem that has them stumped, probably with the network itself. Not sure I believe it. I get the above error when attempting to connect to a website or use MSN messenger. GPRS settings (access points/DNS) are correct (tech support verify this) and the 'sutomatically detect settings' flag in internet explorer options is set to true. I've done all the usual stuff, O even advised me to pull the battery off the handset and restart, but no joy. Really can't be bothered with a hard reset as I'm sick of doing them and am not sure it will help. Anyone else seen this?
Guest fixit Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Sorry to bump this, but it's a problem I'm still experiencing and according to the orange chap who rang me 'collating information' their tech support people have a long list of people with an identical problem. Anyone know any more?
Guest SirGaz Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Loads of people have seen this before (I still get it all the time). See this thread http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=21900 for the original problem and this one http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=30871 for a more recent discussion
Guest abamara Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Yeah I've had it now for over 2 weeks. No gprs at all. Just same error over and over and over and over and over and over...................and ov.....er a....n.....d. o.......v............... Well I'm sure you get what I mean!
Guest fixit Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Thanks chaps. I'd seen that thread but I don't think I read it properly as I thought it was a different issue - but having looked it appears pretty similar, apologies for adding extra clutter to the forum! Nice one.
Guest ormstont Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 I had this problem from day 1 on my SPV and having bought what should have been a great internet phone I was pretty annoyed when I couldn't even place a GPRS call! Having spoken at length to Orange's data & GPRS help team they eventually had to take off the permission on my account to access GPRS and then put it back on again. This took about 24 hours but I've not had a problem since.
Guest abamara Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Tried that and it didn't work. They think they'll have to 'reconfigure' the whole phone, whatever that means! Might take from 48hrs to 10 days. Maaan, this sucks! :x
Guest glynton Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 I reported this problem to Orange ages ago, but haven't heard anything since. I told them it was a re-occuring problem and that my brother has it too. I have also had a replacement phone which also has a problem. they passed a message over to their technical team and left it with them, but have not heard since. My problem is that i can connect for 1min or so, but then disconnects then gets stuck trying to re-dial. So annoying! Especially when in the middle of an IM conversation, or a Modaco - Mobile Reply! Glynton
Guest James Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 i never heard anything when i reported it... but it fixed 'itself' after 2 days!
