Looks pretty decent, but a pity that the Kraits are clocked relatively slowly. I'm sure they'll still provide decent enough performance, however. It will be interesting to see what people have to say about this one in comparison to Chinaphones such as the Hongmi, though that is more expensive of course.

I'd perhaps give it a try but for the fact that I've spent cash on an Ovivo SIM and therefore now want to have a dual-SIM phone to use! I did (briefly) find the second SIM useful on holiday in the summer so I hardly use it, but there is a principle at stake!

Not used MIUI for a while, but I seem to recall that there used to be this sort of problem if the apps were stored on the SD card. This was something which occurred with some enthusiast builds of MIUI on a Motorola Atrix. I do think that some other builds didn't have the same issue, however, so it might not be something to do with that.

I've just checked the apps that have moved out of the folders and they're all the apps on the SD card, so that looks like the problem!

Well I'm quite impressed with the xiaomi red rice. Ive got nothing but good reports for Merimobiles, good communication and they advised me to upgrade to Singapore post from free delivery due to the delays and it only cost me $8. They also rooted my phone and added an anti-slip mat free of charge. It only took a few weeks to arrive and from arriving in the UK took 6days to get to me, it was marked as a gift $30 and didn't have to pay any custom charges. The build quality looks and feels very good, the back cover is easily removed so easy access to the battery. The screen seems very responsive, and the phone for me is very fast, including downloading apps. At a push I will be able to get 2days out of a full battery charge and that includes 2days of using the music player (approx 40 mins both times) and an average days using internet etc.

Here is a guide on how to root, install cwm and install custom ROMs

Here is the link to the English Cwm

http://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/english-cwm-for-xiaomi-hongmi-td-wcdma-full-working.22953/

I haven't installed cwm yet as I'm still using the installed ROM.

Don't forget the RR gets OTA updates every friday and it should come already rooted.

I would leave well alone for a bit if I was you..well till you're sick of MIUI.

The Huawei Honor 3C looks to be a pretty well-specced budget device:

http://www.gizchina.com/2013/12/16/huawei-honor-3x-3c-officially-launched-pricing-131/

Wonder what the reviews of this phone will be like?

Regardless, you really can get a heck of a lot of phone for not much money these days. I'm tempted to buy one of these (or something similar) in the new year but will wait for reviews first, I think.

The red rice at the minute doesn't have weekly updates, I think they're monthly. I don't think I'll be messing around too much with it as so far I'm quite happy with it.

Wow, anyone seen EE's new budget 4G device...

i just got this text message from EE so decided to check out the device they are talking about, and was surprised at the price & specs.

Alcatel One Touch Idol S: http://shop.ee.co.uk/alcatel-one-touch-idol-s-group/pay-as-you-go/details/#choose-plans £129.99.

i have seen people saying its a Dual core snapdragon 400? (also think there is an MTK version in china)

Specs comparison to Moto G: http://www.ADVERT LINK REMOVED.com/phones/compare/Alcatel-One-Touch-Idol-S,Motorola-Moto-G/phones/8136,8208

you can get £30 cash back on this phone if you use quidco http://www.quidco.com/ee-pay-as-you-go/

found it here http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/alcatel-touch-idol-s-149-99-with-40-quidco-including-20-top-up-2014-free-minutes-1734697?aui=560&page=2 which says £40 but i only see a £30 offer.

I searched this phone on aliexpress but it is not available yet. The specs are very good for this money. But I am sure that it will not be available for international buyers for this price. Huawei products are supposed to be of good quality.

All cube has got to do is get a recovery that will do backups  :)

I received a Aoson M33 tablet from Merimobiles yesterday.

9.7 inch retina screen RK3188 quad core 2GB RAM 16GB ROM

The tablet is very good so far.

Merimobiles also asked me if I wanted to pay $8 for quicker delivery but I declined. It was dispatched on 2/12/13 and was dispatched overseas on 6/12/13.

15 days with free delivery in December is pretty good and glad I didn't pay extra.

just sold my nexus 5, and ordered this (until i can get a moto G for my self) and i must admit EE are the most complicated place i have ever ordered from...

they made me ring up to complete my order, and now the email says i need photo ID to get it from the courier

and only i can sign for it.... so you need to take time off work.

Don't forget your proof of identity - for Pay Monthly Handset and Tablet orders

When we deliver your order to your chosen address, you'll need to show your photo ID in person.  When your order arrives, our driver will take down the last five digits of your ID, to make sure that it's been properly checked.

See the types of ID we accept here.

Passport                                               Police ID card

Photocard driving licence                       Military ID card

UK National identity card                       Registered disabled card

Orange have been by far the worst network I've had to deal with in the past as regards customer service so I'm not surprised to hear that their new incarnation "EE" have such a mind-numbingly stupid delivery policy in place. It's almost as if they've gone out of their way to make things even more difficult for customers.

Incredible, in the truest sense of the word.

Need to get a new phone, bored with the Vowney V5, but the choice is so big now in the Chinese phone market the spec seems good and probably a great phone, but so was the Vowney V5  until the problems arose with the GPS and Compass it was still a good phone though, even with those concerns.  Sure this inew v3 will appear on peoples choice list........might be worth the wait until a few people have purchased though to see if there are any bugs with it..
