Guest Maringer
Well, regarding Gorilla Glass, I think some people expect too much. It's tougher than standard glass but isn't completely impervious to scratches so the assumption that you won't get scratches if you put it in your pocket with a load of small change and some keys isn't correct! The Coolpad reputedly has a GG screen as well, so you just have to assume that the manufacturers are telling the truth!I suppose the Jiayu does have one or two benefits over the Coolpad in the greater amount of memory and the compass. Not sure how useful the compass will be to most but I suppose more memory is useful (though 8GB is fine with me as I have a 64GB microSD card).I've heard one or two complaints about the build quality of other Jiayu phones in the past but it sounds as though this one is OK.I've been impressed with the software support from Coolpad (albeit with the ROMs only being released in China). It has proven pretty easy to 'convert' the ROMs for the TD-SCDMA Chinese version of the phone for WCDMA which gives us a lot more choice. Not sure how good Jiayu are at releasing updated ROMs? They are an established company so they may provide relatively frequent updates. Hopefully, both phones will have a KitKat ROM before too long! All in all, I'm impressed with the performance of the MT6592 in the Coolpad so I expect the Jiayu you are looking at ought to be similarly good, providing you can get the glitches fixed. Guest tillaz
good news for china phone owners, mediatek are actually going to start trying with releasing proper source... this could be what really puts them on the map been able to build from source for them would be a huge boost in popularity. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4g_mPP5616g#t=

Guest Maringer
No mention of any 3G support listed there so I reckon that must be for the TD-SCDMA market only.
Guest dalyer
Isn't the A820 an MTK6589 quad core? http://www.gsmarena.com/lenovo_a820-5462.php http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lenovo_IdeaPhone_A820 I'd be skeptical about the above offer until this seller and product was vouched for as legitimate.... Ha ha - it even says quad core further down the ad. Either this seller is mistakenly or deliberately calling it octo core in the title - either way it's not a good sign... And AnTuTu of 44K looks suspect to me... "Honesty Trading" - yeah right.... :angry2: Edited June 18, 2014 by dalyer
Guest Maringer
They are saying it is the A820w+, whatever the hell that may mean! I think it always pays to be a little suspicious of Aliexpress sellers, especially if they are advertising an unannounced phone (as far as I can tell), at a suspiciously low price! ;)

Guest trashbat
guys can anyone recommend me the cheapest 3g phone i can get from china? A guy at work has broken his and as 3 is the cheapest network it has to be a 3g phone.
Guest dalyer
A guy at work has broken his and as 3 is the cheapest network it has to be a 3g phone. Huh?! 3G is not exclusive to 3 (the network)! It's simply a network protocol supported by all carriers. :D Apart from that you'd really want to post more about what this guy wants and what his budget is as there are thousands of phones available from China at all price points - but some of them will be rubbish (especially the cheapest ones). Yes but 3 do not have their own 2G network. Where they do not offer 3G I believe you can use EE's 2G, hence his friend needs a 3G capable phone. Elephone is a small China brand, with minor sales numbers in homeland. It is much easier for me to recommend phones that have some statistical background. Than it is easy to guess which models are probably very good. There are few sources: Tao Bao (can't write two words together due to Modaco spam filter :)) Tmall JingDong For that Elephone you can find , for example, twenty user reviews or reports. They might be honest, but they might be misleading, too. For another phone, let's say Small Chili Pepper phone - you can find several thousand user responds - and 90% of them are positive. Which one you would bet on then?
