Since this is a moding forum after all I have a question for developers(if you know someone good pls tell him to take a look at this). There is Haier W910 which is specced pretty standard, almost identical to HTC One S C2 version. I was wandering how difficult would it be to port CM or any other JB rom to Haier? It comes with 4.0.4 stock but there is jelly bean rom for it(4.1.2 I think). Any info would be appreciated. If it can be done I think Haier would be very viable in sub 150$ range. I think it's 120$ on banggod with discount.

From what I've seen on xda so far there is a pretty straightforward guide to porting roms that are same version(for example 4.0.4 from one device, to 4.0.4 on other device with very similar specs). Would it require some major changes/programming?

ROM ports rarely work and require a lot of bug fixing. Ports also usually have poor performance so there is no point attempting it. Compiling from source is the way to go.

For that size, 5.7", Goophone would be a better choice:

http://www.etotalk.c...h-hd_p3811.html

and consider:

I think I'm going to buy the Xiocai x9 has anyone got an pros/cons about it? Is there MIUI available?

Everything seems fine. One thing that bothers me is

low presence on chinese mobile forums but

it is a brand new product so it is not so weird.

MIUI v5 for x9 is available at miui.com, which is a good sign,

although it is a semi-official release.

Miui for Xiaocai X9

Check other models on that page, too.

This

As the matter of fact, there is no official miui support for

mtk dual-sim phones.

But it will appear very soon, since Xiaomi (Miui) launched

it`s first mtk phone (Red Rice).

My phone (v987) has already two MIUI developers at miui.com

releasing independent builds.

Few more notes:

Xiaocai has it`s obvious role model - XiaoMi

They even made their own OS - Cai OS

Xiao Mi+UI

At the risk of getting kicked again I would just like to say that the 9500 I have is very good even if it is a "clone".

Simalar to the one you asked about roy8846 except for the screen size.

The camera is exellent as is the video, the battery life is good for a big phone and there is no lag from the 4.2 o.s.

I have had no trouble with the gps so far but I know some phones using the MTK6589 chips do have.

I can only speak as I find and would recomend it to all.

Cheers.

The basic Xiaocai X9 only has a qHD screen, I believe? I'm of the opinion that if you're going to have a phone with a screen of 4.5(+) inches, it should have 720p resolution at the very least.

The FAEA F1 is a pretty decent device but remains a little buggy. I've not installed the latest ROM release as yet (too much stuff going on at the moment to risk being phoneless in the case of a catastrophe!), but I understand you need to install a (third party) bugfix to resolve location/Store/GPS issues, even with this new release though the problem has been known for weeks!

Pretty ridiculous that such an important firx for an error didn't make it into a new official ROM...

Also, FAEA haven't released any source code as yet and are very quiet on the issue. Wonder if this is down to Qualcomm as they don't seem to be particularly eager to release source for their other devices, including the new Nexus 7?

540 x 960 seems fine on 4.5inch, probably would agree if any bigger,

but remember the human eye can generally not differentiate detail beyond 300 PPI... (the so-called "retina display")

so even 720p on 4.7inch devices is slightly over the top at 320PPI

the G300 & Y300 have a 4inch screen and look fine with 800 x 480 (233ppi)

xiacocai x9 has 4.5inch with 540 x 960 and looks fine (245ppi)

my nexus 4 has 4.7inch with 768p resolution (320ppi) and i honestly fail to notice any difference over the other three in terms of "visible pixels" or pixalation.
