In this topic you'll find the utility and ROM to restore your Gemini Devices 7008 tablet to the latest software release.

Before you begin, please run the 'Updater' application and ensure your device is listed as a 7008-newpanel. This ROM is NOT suitable for the 7008 or 7008-newgs.

Requirements

• Windows PC
  
• microSD card
  
• Card reader for PC
  Note that updating the ROM will wipe the device!
  
  Downloads
  
  In order to prepare for installation download the following files:
  
  • 231112-1000 ROM - DOWNLOAD - MD5: 34253a73c4f6200ec65b8d09873b360e
    
  • PhoenixCard - DOWNLOAD

  Installation

  To install the ROM on your device, carry out the following steps:

  [*]Unzip the two zip files you downloaded

  [*]Insert the microSD card and reader into your PC - note that the card will be wiped

  [*]Launch PhoenixCard

  [*]Click the 'DiskCheck' button - a drive letter should appear

  [*]Click the 'Img File' button and select the image file you just extracted

  [*]Click the Burn button and wait until completed ('Burn End' will be displayed as below)

  

  [*]Turn off your 7008 device

  [*]Insert microSD card into the tablet

  [*]Turn the device on

  [*]Watch the screen - 'Card OK' will be displayed when the update it completed and the screen will turn off

  [*]Eject the microSD card and start the device

Can I use this PhoenixCard utility to flash the 10312 ROM? Frank from getsatisfaction sent me here but said he wasn't sure if you could. Obviously with the 10312 ROM not the one from this thread!

Hi,

I have a Gemini Devices 7008 Tablet that freezes on bootup.

I came across this forum and read that this may solve the situation and attempted the suggestion above,

however on running PhoenixCard and selecting Burn on a 8GB microSD card

I get a "Card Preprocess Failed! 228" mesage popup.

Thinking an 8GB card might not be big enough,

I attempted the same process again on a 32GB microSD card

and get a similar "Card Preprocess Failed! 497" mesage popup.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong ?

What size microSD card do i need ?

Please excuse my ignorance, I am a Newbie to this.

Hi Cliff,

A card less than 4GB should work better. I think the tool has problem with the higher capacity sd cards.

Hi Guys,

I re-ran the PhoenixCard utility with a 1G microSD card and it worked brilliantly.

Problem now solved and I now have a working Gemini Tablet again.
