Guest waj1234 Posted December 28, 2012 Report Posted December 28, 2012 (edited) BBC iplayer works on mine now with ics browser+ from play store with it set as user agent desktop. Not sure if people know already as could not see it mentioned. It will not work on stock or chrome browser however. Hope it helps someone! Edited December 28, 2012 by waj1234

Guest waj1234 Posted December 29, 2012 Report Posted December 29, 2012 I assumed no one knew iplayer worked at all on these phones which is why I posted this. I prefer the website version to an app anyhow. This thread can be removed really then.
Guest punjabi Posted December 29, 2012 Report Posted December 29, 2012 Works fine on the stock browser. Just press menu the check desktop I've tried this in the stock browser but for some reason I must be missing something...?! Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong...
Guest Konstipated Kiwi Posted December 30, 2012 Report Posted December 30, 2012 The same for me. I'm using stock browser from Xolo version of ICS and if I visit the iPlayer site and try to play a video it asks me to download the media player app from the play store. If I select request desktop site from the browser menu the sites gives a message asking me to untick it. Cannot play a video either way.
Guest waj1234 Posted December 30, 2012 Report Posted December 30, 2012 Same for me as said before but works spot on with ics+ from play store. I am also on xolo ics.

Have you tried to clear the cache/history/cookies first?
Guest Konstipated Kiwi Posted December 30, 2012 Report Posted December 30, 2012 Have just tried that. Still the same. We must be missing something. Do you just tick the desktop box in browser menu, go to www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer (excuse the formatting) and press on a video? I haven't read through the other thread about iplayer yet. Perhaps there is something besides adobe flash player that needs to be present?
Guest punjabi Posted December 30, 2012 Report Posted December 30, 2012 Ok figured it... 1. Go to BBC.co.uk 2. Click on the phone's menu button and select 'show desktop site' option 3. Now navigate to iplayer section of the website and select a video to play. 4. Make sure you select the 'full screen' as well. :-) Hope that helps!

Hmm, just tried it again and had no problems with 3 different programs(Total Wipeout and 20 degrees below?) until I got to one about Freddie Mercury when it told me I had an incompatible device. Maybe I'll try https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.beansoft.browserplus&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5iZWFuc29mdC5icm93c2VycGx1cyJd but it looks more like it's the BBC messing things up to me.
Guest i am not a hacker Posted December 30, 2012 Report Posted December 30, 2012 Just use dolphin browser with the user agent set as 'desktop'. It has worked for me for about 4 month - as long as I have had this phone for.
Guest Konstipated Kiwi Posted December 31, 2012 Report Posted December 31, 2012 Both of the above worked for me. Dolphin browser set to desktop and stock browser going via BBC home page rather than direct to bbc.co. uk/iplayer
Guest Pondlife Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 Using this with hdmi connected does anyone not have excessive lip sync issues?
