Where to start with a Blaze??

I've just been given a Blaze for free as the other half's mum found Android too difficult to use so I want to give it a good wipe and reflash it with the best rom available so where do I start and what do people recommend? I also need to unlock the phone as its currently locked to Tmobile. I'm not great with all this stuff so as much info as possible would be much appreciated. I currently use a Jiayu G3 which is rooted etc but that's coz of having great help here on the forum!
