Guest Zarch1972 Posted March 16, 2013 Report Posted March 16, 2013 You know by now that we at MoDaCo love our Chromebooks and are excited about the long term future of the Operating System. If you fancy trying out ChromeOS then you won't go far wrong with Samsung's 550 model. Curry's are currently selling the Wi-Fi and 3G model for £299 brand new, which is a great price for the BEST Chromebook which has been selling for £429. Okay, there is the pixel, but that is £1,000+, putting it a little out of reach. :) The 550 screen blows the £229 ARM version away and the CPU has far more of a kick to it too. All in all, a very good price. Don't forget 1.51% cashback at TopCashBack too. Visit the Currys website to buy or for more details. Click here to view the item
Guest Zarch1972 Posted March 16, 2013 Report Posted March 16, 2013 What's great about the 3G enabled Chromebook is you can then get a SIM from Samba or Ovivo and have FREE internet on it whilst out and about. :) Check out the MoDaCo article on the subject:
Guest PaulOBrien Posted March 16, 2013 Report Posted March 16, 2013 I LOVE my Chromebook 550 3G... what a bargain! P
Guest Zarch1972 Posted March 20, 2013 Report Posted March 20, 2013 Looks like Amazon have price matched Curry's at £299 too. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Series-550-3G-Chromebook/dp/B007ZZ194Y
Guest PaulOBrien Posted March 20, 2013 Report Posted March 20, 2013 Weirdly at Amazon that makes the 3G and WiFI versions the same price! P
Guest breeza Posted March 23, 2013 Report Posted March 23, 2013 Nice find! Got a little extra off buying through topcashback and PCWorld. Also picked up an Ovivo sim to go with it. Thanks for the tip.
Guest breeza Posted March 24, 2013 Report Posted March 24, 2013 Can anyone recommend a sleeve for this that is a good fit?
Guest Zarch1972 Posted March 27, 2013 Report Posted March 27, 2013 Note, Wi-Fi version of the 550 is now showing at just £269.99 on Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Series-Wi-Fi-Chromebook-Silver/dp/B007ZZ18S6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1364391535&sr=8-1 Whilst the 3G & Wi-Fi is STILL showing £299 on Currys using the link in the original post.
Guest Zarch1972 Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 Looks like £299 is the new price point as both Amazon and Curry's still have the 3G model at under 300 quid. :)
Guest glossywhite Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 Chrome OS - what a mess. We have Linux, Mac OS and Windows - what on earth do we need Chrome OS for? LOL
Guest PaulOBrien Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 A mess why? It's the least messy of all the OS'. :) P
