Guest smweb Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 (edited) The phone has just stopped working. It restarts and stops at splash screen, sometimes restarts and goes into CWM menu. I can manually enter in CWM (v 6.0.2.7). And then I get these rows on bottom of the screen: E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log After some time, the phone restarts and the bootloop continues. The last ROM I was using - Stock+ R6 by Cyda. After going through a lot of similar threads, and doing the stuffs mentioned through the CWM menu (ADB not tried yet), I feel, the issue lies with a corrupted cache. So, if someone who has a good grasp over Linux / Android commands can point me to do a format and rebuild the cache (through ADB interface), then that would be helpful (need a noob's guide). Can someone help me? :( Looking to try all the options before going back to Huawei for repairs. Tried flashing boot, recovery and system images through the fastboot commands, but received errors. - Middle package hack also doesn't work. Guest george109 Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 (edited) Try going advanced -> fix permissions in recovery Edited April 10, 2013 by george109
Guest george109 Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 (edited) Also wipe the cache, dalvik cache and do a wipe data/factory reset. Edited April 10, 2013 by george109
Guest smweb Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 (edited) ^ Thanks George109 for your suggestions :) tried everything inside CWM, but back to square one. One big pain is CWM / phone reboots after every 30 seconds or so. Edited April 11, 2013 by smweb
Guest george109 Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 Right, Try Flashing Sebastian404's Recovery, and see if that works...
Guest george109 Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 (edited) If it does not, do a force update with an update.app from Huawei, and this will overwrite everything and send you back to the stock ROM, and if it still does not work, it's a hardware issue you could pop into a Vodafone store, and they might give you a replacement. Guest george109 Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 (edited) Or you could phone Huawei on 0844 800 6800, and ask them to service it, but first go to the shop, as from what I hear, Huawei's tech support isn't great to say the least... Edited April 10, 2013 by george109

Have a few updates.apps ready to go. I had a similar issue after B952 update.app failed to install, so I tried B926 and that installed fine. I'm guessing you already tried to install a nandroid backup? Anyway for me: I've never been able to install an update app without zeroing my IMEI, hopefully though you'll be fine once you force update.
Guest smweb Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 (edited) @ george109 and @Rico_89: Tried update.app as my first resort, with B940 and B952; both didn't work. My problem is same as the the OP here: http://www.modaco.co...ed-help-needed/ Yes have tried the solutions in that thread. Doesn't look like the eMMC is broken as I could mount eMMC but not Cache. Guest george109 Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 Have you tried the solutions in http://www.modaco.com/topic/358071-phone-near-bricked-help-needed/ like booting with no sd card?
Guest george109 Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 also, Follow this guide to check if the eMMC is broken... If it is, then its the hardware

Guest Rico_89 Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 Downloading B926 now and keeping my fingers crossed :( Edit: B926 didn't work. Pink bar moves till 1/3rd, then stalls like the other update.apps. Is it just a Pink bar? There should be some text saying things like "1/2 updating", then "2/2" etc .. if not then that's what I get even now if I dont zero my IMEI before running an update app. Seeing as you can't boot into any rom then using 5irom to try and hack your IMEI is impossible but there is another way here: http://www.modaco.com/topic/360716-imei-hack-tool-v10-install-any-updateapp-20032013/ I'm not sure if this will help you either though because you must be in debug mode..Unless someone knows another way of doing this.. Although I'm guessing here and tampering with you IMEI might not even work anyway.
Guest smweb Posted April 11, 2013 Report Posted April 11, 2013 (edited) ^Yep just the bar, no text, nothing. My CWM stays for about 30 secs then reboots. Is there a script that I can use to pause this bootloop from inside CWM and do something like advanced restoring of cache, system, emmc, etc? None of the backup-restore works because of this infinite bootloop :( Edited April 11, 2013 by smweb
Guest tillaz Posted April 11, 2013 Report Posted April 11, 2013 how long you had the phone and did you buy it new ? if it still has warranty just send it back
Guest george109 Posted April 12, 2013 Report Posted April 12, 2013 Yeah, sounds dead to me too. Hopefully it's in warranty and you can pop into a Vodafone store and get it replaced.
Guest denzele Posted April 12, 2013 Report Posted April 12, 2013 Well return phone to repairs or replacement should be your last options mate..i did the same return phone after only trying twice to fix it (instead of trying few more options that could probably rebrick it) ..what about B933 or any other version..downgrade to GB (I know it sounds silly but consider it)..of course with force update..until you try all of them don't go back to shop my advice... Also you mentioned B952 version that you tried..is this recovery one from explained like you're 5...if so any chance you can upload it ..others looking for that one since is not available in that thread anymore....
Guest smweb Posted April 12, 2013 Report Posted April 12, 2013 (edited) how long you had the phone and did you buy it new ? if it still has warranty just send it back It's a new one and still in warranty (not yet 6 months, in fact extended warranty for parts), but well convincing the Huawei service center about the non-stock firmware would be a PITA. Yeah, sounds dead to me too. Hopefully it's in warranty and you can pop into a Vodafone store and get it replaced. I was hoping to make the (force) update.app thing work, and then take back to the service center. There's no point paying half the money of the phone for the repair. Edited April 12, 2013 by smweb

Force update doesn't work for me this time; otherwise that option has saved me more than once. If you are looking for Voda B952, then I don't have. I have tried the one repacked here, http://www.modaco.com/topic/359774-ics-repack-403-b952-u8815-worldwide-release-rom/ and the one found on Huawei website, which has the update.app.
Guest tillaz Posted April 12, 2013 Report Posted April 12, 2013 It's a new one and still in warranty (not yet 6 months, in fact extended warranty for parts), but well convincing the Huawei service center about the non-stock firmware would be a PITA. i'v sent a good few phone's back for repair with custom ROMs on them, and nothing has been said about it, they just gave me a replacement after 2 weeks. there has also been two people i know of on this forum that have done the same, so don't let that put you off ;) anyway, how will they know if it wont turn on
Guest smweb Posted April 12, 2013 Report Posted April 12, 2013 ^ Thanks Tillaz, that sounds great :D The phone does turn on -- sometimes stuck in the Huawei logo, sometimes to CWM recovery. Look to try a few more things tonight, and tomorrow it's going back.
Guest smweb Posted April 25, 2013 Report Posted April 25, 2013 25 April update: Huawei SS informed that the problem was due to a faulty motherboard so, they have replaced it. Hoping to get it back soon. Anyone else having the same problem should think of going the service center way as this might well be a hardware issue.
