Guest Hawkes_TFS Posted February 18, 2003 Report Posted February 18, 2003 Has anyone else suffered trying to send MMS picture messages to phones other than another SPV? I have been trying to send pictures to my brothers Sagem my–x5 with no joy. He just gets a web link to the picture... bet he's glad he got that big colour display :? Anyone else tryed this? BTW he is on Orange too - I know that cross network MMS is still not a goer. Ben.
Guest Gorskar Posted February 18, 2003 Report Posted February 18, 2003 I don't think that phone even supports MMS. It seems to be a somewhat second rate phone imho
Guest jaknife2000 Posted February 18, 2003 Report Posted February 18, 2003 The Sagem MYX-5 as stated on the official www.sagem.com/en/ website states the phone is "EMS" Enhanced Messaging System compatible NOT MMS compatible. I am very suprised that your brother even got that far. To be honest, phones like the MYX-5 are cheaper "Toy" phones, for younger phone users, and they reduce the costs, by reducing some of the features. EMS is one of them, its a dead medium before it even starts. There is a known issue with the earlier Nokia Brick, um oops sorry i mean 7650, that it is NOT compatible with other MMS client handsets, i believe this issue HAS been resolved now, due to an update. (Available from a Nokia service center) As for the interoperability, i believe you can now send to O2 mobiles, and NOT Vodafone, or is it the other way around ? I know you can to one of the two networks.
Guest alexknight Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 the links with O2 are workin, i can send MMS to my mates on O2 no probs, one of them has a T68i but hasn't had MMS enabled on his account yet (only upgraded yesterday) but as soon i its workin i will let you know!! Come on Vodafone and T-Mobile get your bloody MMS servers linked up to everyone elses - it can't be that hard to do can it!!! Alex
Guest townsejl Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 Posted a picture message to my mates' T68i (on O2) no problem. I have to say though, that the picture quality (and obviously screen size) from the original to the one received on the T68i is not a patch on the SPV. It looks like I made the right choice of phone !!! PS. This was sending a MMS from an orange PAYG contract as well, so I've proven that it's not only contract people who have all the fun. Cheers, Jamie.

Don't forget ur changing resolutions from 64k to 256 colours. Its bound to make a difference. There's a big quality difference even from the N7210 (4k colours) to the T68i. Cas
