Damaged screen ?

I noticed on a black screen a lighter grey area extending in a circle across the centre of the screen with in the middle a whirl rather like a thumbprint.

tried cleaning etc with no change

after a day of depression - it seems fine again now

anyone know what this is / was ?

Search the forum for "blob", it's a fairly common fault.
