Encryption and clockwork mod

I have root permission and installed CWM. However I can't get CWM to read or write to internal storage. I get a mount error. Is this because I have used androids encryption to encrypt the phone?

Yep. It won't decrypt until the OS starts to boot.

You will have to do one or the other. Encrypt or stay with the rom.
