P800 exclusive to Orange? Where did you get that idea?

I've seen a number of posts on this forum over the last few weeks about the Sony Ericsson P800 being released exclusively on Orange.

Not sure where they got this info but its wrong.

I have had the P800 on pre-order with Expansys for nearly a year now on a Enliven contract(Modified O2 contract) and is due out over the next few weeks.

Orange is just one of many that will have the P800 on their networks and certainly don't have an exclusive right to it.

For anyone that is thinking of getting the P800 too i wouldnt recommend getting it on Orange anyway as it'll probably by plagued by the same app signing issues thats killing the Spv.

They won't get exclusivity, but they will be the first to release the phone from what I hear.

Orange told their retail staff it was an exclusive!

I doubt it too tho...

A company such as SonyEricsson won't benefit from exclusivity - only OEM manufacturers such as HTC which specialise in this field would.

Exclusivity is ruled out as soon as the phone is available from SE direct, and from places such as Dubai SIM-free...

Critical of Orange though I may be at times, their policy of heavily beta testing their own firmware (far more than the competition) normally pays off with higher reliability... but a slower roll-out. This has been bothering them, and they're now determined to shed their image as "tail end Charlie". A sad reflection on consumers - given a choice of "You want it WORKING, or you want it TODAY?" Many will elect to have it today. Unreliability is often more a reflection of the manufacturer than the telco... and in some cases the user. More than half the phones returned to Orange as "faulty" turn out (after extensive diagnostic checks) to have nothing at all wrong with them. Amazing how all that induction training comes back to memory!

We've been able to buy P800's for a while over here. SE Denmark even went to the trouble of importing/selling them prior to the "official" release date in order to stop grey imports....

Yeah, and in the Netherlands the P800 had been released for more than a month ago! Simlockfree for about 750 euros
