I've found in the past with divx on PC etc, that cartoons are a lot more tolerant of low bitrate compression than real people videos.

I was just imagining a scenario where someone were to pm with were simpsons eps can be found that i can then encode.

But that was purely an imagenery scenario

Yeah I suppose one of the advantages of a small screen is that you can get small file sizes....

If you think thats good you have no idea what your missing the DIVX player is at least 20x better than WMP, watched family guy in a lecture yesterday, nice :)

Yeap DIVX is much better than WMP. With the five latest episodes of friends (911-915) on the phone, there's not much I can ask for. Was watching episode 915 in a lecture today. Only difference... I was GIVING the lecture ! 8) :)

So far i've encoded about 80 simpsons episodes to WMA - series 1,2,12,13, 14 - using a simple .bat file script for media encoder 9.

They are great for the tube - going to start on southpark soon!

They all came from edonkey2000 p2p network (indexed by sharereactor.com, search for 'Simpsons' in Series - note is NOT an illegal or a warez site :)

After testing i settled upon a profile of:

176x132

8fps

66k video

16kbps, 16khz, mono cbr Audio

Buffer=4sec

This is a total of 89kbps and is the absolute max audio/video quality trade-off that plays relatively smoothly for me.

Am trying out divx format at the moment however . . .
