Guest PaulOBrien Posted July 2, 2013 Report Posted July 2, 2013 File this under 'it had to happen' in the light of Google's recent moves... Amazon have opened their previous Kindle Fire exclusive GameCircle online game data sync service to all Android devices. Like the gaming functionality now built in to Google Play Services, GameCircle provides achievements, leaderboards and Whispersync for Games. Supported for integration with Java, JNI, and Unity3D, the service offers the ability to: Automatically resolve data conflicts between mobile devices and the cloudQueue updates to support offline operation, andOffer a simple interface that can be integrated in minutes. A post on the Amazon developer blog details exactly how to integrate GameCircle in your application and it does look super simple. It'll be interesting to see how much uptake there is of the new service in Play Store apps and also how developers decide which of the two competing services to integrate with (or maybe both?). I wonder if it's beyond the realm of possibility that Google could change the TOS for Play Services to mandate you may not use their API if you are also using the Amazon version...? Head on over to the developer blog post or GameCircle page for more details. [Via: Engadget] Click here to view the item
