Sync Accounts Issue.

Hi all got my phone yesterday so it's pretty much stock, all I've done is CWM / Root / Gapps. Now I've noticed that it won't fully syn with google. Gmail and contacts seem fine but the option to sync Calendar is missing even though I've installed google calendar.

Also when I go to System settings/ accounts/ google, my listed google account says "Sync error" and right at the bottom there's a message "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly".

I have noticed that every time I start my phone I get the message "Android is upgrading Starting Apps".

Anyone got any ideas?

Well I figured out what this must be.. I did a factory reset and signed in and now everything seems to be syncing up normally. However I still get "Android Is Upgrading" when I start up (I have fastboot turned off). I realised that the Google play store reverts back to the old version when I start the phone and updates when I launch it the first time, so I guess this must be the app that is upgrading when I start up. Not a big deal but not sure how to fix it.. Gonna try a few things and see.

Not got any ideas, but noticed this morning that when switching phone off fully ( not in quick boot)then it says "updating android" , guess it does not like something not a clue what that is though, did you cure yours ???

I always have fastboot turned off so if I need to boot into CWM I don't need to pull the battery.

After I factory reset the syncing problem was solved and after upgrading to the latest official rom, now my phone restarts normally with out any updating message.

I think it might have to do with the flashing of gapps. For some reason, I think, the old version of the play store keeps wanting to reload itself.

Just something to test: Turn off fast boot / turn phone on and launch play store with out any data or wifi connection. It obviously wont start properly because you're not connected but look at the top bar and see if it's the old version of the play store.

Also did you notice this after you installed gapps or before?

only noticed it after reading your post as im always in fast boot, as for "play" build version is 3.10.9 after a while it updated itself to version 4.1.6, switched off and rebooted still got android updating but play had stayed at the version 4.1.6....

I'm not 100% sure but I think play store reverts back to the old version which is why you get the update message. I was seeing the old version after restarting and then it would update which means, as a system app, on restart it will say updating android.

you might be right about play store, tried a different GApps and still get the same update message at switch on

I also tried to flash this version of the play store but it didn't solve the updating issue: http://www.modaco.com/topic/362253-updateplay-store-4027/

Before I could look into it any further I updated and the problem was solved, although I haven't had to install gapps this time. However play store not updating seemed to be a common enough issue when I google it.
