Guest jaknife2000 Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 Hi ya, A little background before i ask for help. I am from a VB6 programming enviroment, i have played with C a little but nothing too major, YES the dredded "Hello World" app a few times. But NOW i wanna play with C or rather C++, primarily for my SPV. I have downloaded the MS Embedded Tools 3, and the Smartphone 2002 SDK. Basically my question is, how do i configure it to use the emulator ? I have read a few threads in here, about making sure certain folders are included, but nothing to actually tell me how to include them. I know i sound thick, but everytime i create a new app, and try to build it, i get a time out, connecting to the emulator. I have looked in the Configure Platform Manager section, and played with a couple of the settings, but i really am having no joy. And advice / help would be appreciated. Thank you kindly.
Guest spacemonkey Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 So in configure platform manager, you should have 2 devices listed. One Smartphone (Default Device) this is you actual APV through activesync and one Smartphone Emulation, this is the emulator. If it can't connect to the emulator try looking to see if you are running zona alarm or norton firewall or something, it connects through the network so firewalls can stop it working. If you have no network card on you pc you will probably need to install the microsoft loopback adapter which will give you local networking functionality. Hope that's a start.
Guest jaknife2000 Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 I am on a network, with a Cisco hardware firewall, rather than a local software driven one. Is there a specific port that it uses ?
Guest spacemonkey Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 No, it's only working networking on your local PC. If you're firewall is hardware and external it should have any effect on the SDK. I've got no other ideas for you then... it works for me
