Guest PaulOBrien Posted July 18, 2013 Report Posted July 18, 2013 An Android 4.3 build has leaked for the Nexus 4! Posted just this morning on the XDA-Developers website, the build is currently in TWRP backup format so you'll need to ensure you have the custom recovery installed, push the files to your TWRP backup directory on /sdcard and then restore. It certainly looks like the real deal, wearing version number JWR66N, as previously seen on the Galaxy S4 GPe 4.3 leak. With a Google event scheduled for the 24th July, it seems like that 4.3 will be simultaneously released for Nexus and GPe devices on or around that date. [EDIT: I mirrored the file on MEGA since the Dropbox link is now broken.] Click here to view the item
Guest The Soup Thief Posted July 18, 2013 Report Posted July 18, 2013 XDA thread here with a flashable rooted zip http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=2368401 (already with a deodexed version) Some people installing this appear to get root permissions, others don't but there's a thread here with a zip of Superuser for this build (JWR66N) which will give root if you don't have it http://forum.xda-dev...2&postcount=566 Bit busy this morning but if there's chance I'll put on my testpilot hat :D EDIT - what's new? Camera, predictive dialing in phone settings, new emoji in keyboard - xda thread for changes http://forum.xda-dev...44#post43708744. Bound to be lots else under the bonnet but don't know what yet...
Guest EddyOS Posted July 18, 2013 Report Posted July 18, 2013 (edited) I'm about to go away until Tuesday so I'll just wait for the system image to appear and flash that. Nice to see it coming out (finally) Edited July 18, 2013 by EddyOS
Guest Mr.Clark Posted July 18, 2013 Report Posted July 18, 2013 *crosses fingers* Hope they've fixed the crappy Bluetooth that stops connecting after a while (and eventually even stops turning on, requiring a device reboot to clear)...
Guest SilentBob Posted July 18, 2013 Report Posted July 18, 2013 Hopefully they have also fixed the slow Wi-Fi following device sleep that requires you to stop & restart Wi-Fi manually to get a decent connection speed.
Guest domenico lamberti Posted July 18, 2013 Report Posted July 18, 2013 i keep reading in places that the radio is missing or that there is radio issues, if there are, that sucks, if there isnt, i would use this daily
Guest the_crevis Posted July 18, 2013 Report Posted July 18, 2013 Can someone mirror the rooted flashable zip? Goo.im is pretty much dead :(
Guest Michealtbh Posted July 18, 2013 Report Posted July 18, 2013 i keep reading in places that the radio is missing or that there is radio issues, if there are, that sucks, if there isnt, i would use this daily Radio and bootloader are now available on XDA, although it works just fine without them
Guest The Soup Thief Posted July 18, 2013 Report Posted July 18, 2013 (edited) Here's a Mega link to the rooted zip from goo https://mega.co.nz/#!x1ACha6C!0iuzGJGqZth6VUJohGVHL70oE2kwrjebtkuTbIvlCOY Also the new Play Store (v 4.2.3) .apk https://mega.co.nz/#!IoI2XTKL!_OcVzbmPH_DbwaYC5IN9Fb_9WSRAOnumPqqdDZTEj30 I was short of time so just dirty flashed over Paranoid android 3.68 using TWRP 2.6.0.0 Interestingly after the flash TWRP warned me I seemed to have lost root and offered to fix this. I selected Yes and lo, when it booted up I had root! Dialler didn't work (should have wiped etc) but the UI was really really slick. Perhaps in part the increase in touchscreen sensitivity due to improved drivers but all the screen transitions & animations just seemed loads more smooth. If it weren't late I'd fiddle more but I've a busy day tomorrow and need a fully functioning phone so I've restored my PA backup. May tinker more over the weekend Edited July 18, 2013 by The Soup Thief
Guest the_crevis Posted July 19, 2013 Report Posted July 19, 2013 Cheers @The Soup Thief for the mirror!
Guest The Soup Thief Posted July 20, 2013 Report Posted July 20, 2013 Installed this last night after a full wipe. Had to flash a modified SU to get root, but that done, I really really like it. Feels smooth; more responsive touch screen is very apparent. Great day for photos today so I was able to put the camera app to work; felt much more user friendly both for stills and videos. Course, some of this may be placebo, some of it may be a return to stock after my having used Paranoid Android for a while, but I really like it!
Guest runlevel5 Posted July 21, 2013 Report Posted July 21, 2013 had first random reboot browsing gallery this morning. other than that its slick gui and camera app make it a keeper. probably just me but seems to charge faster????
