Guest Seraphic Posted July 21, 2013 Report Posted July 21, 2013 With a little more digging I just found that there's a file called 'appwidgets.xml' in the same folder as the wallpaper which I'm willing to bet is the source of our widget troubles also... Yep, looks to be, could be that the position and config of the widgets is set here for both launchers and they are each getting their knickers in a twist as per my post above.
Guest PaulOBrien Posted July 21, 2013 Report Posted July 21, 2013 So wallpaper_info.xml in the aforementioned directory is definitely the wallpaper storage... appwidgets.xml looks like it could be what we're looking for also. Checking now... P
Guest viskas Posted July 21, 2013 Report Posted July 21, 2013 Ciao Viskas! It's the WWE ROM (at least in Sense), so it should work. You can use MoreLocale 2 - to manually set a language. P thank you! I have italian in the google edition, just a few languages in the sense. maybe it's because I don't have a sim inside. at the moment, no issue at all, everything works fine. would you like to keep the google edition stock or will you add some "benefit"? t9 dialer would be great. I know it's included in android 4.3. but in the meantime it would be helpful! great job as usual, you're the one!
Guest PaulOBrien Posted July 21, 2013 Report Posted July 21, 2013 I have created an experimental Switcher app update for experts to try out. :) This adds siloing of wallpaper and widget settings to each ROM. To install, download the APK here - http://content.modaco.net/dropzone/FlipSwitch.apk - then from a command line do the following: adb reboot recoveryadb shell mount /systemadb push FlipSwitch.apk /system/SWITCH/gpe/app/adb push FlipSwitch.apk /system/SWITCH/sense/app/adb shell chmod 644 /system/SWITCH/gpe/app/*adb shell chmod 644 /system/SWITCH/sense/app/*adb reboot You'll need a switch from / to each ROM to establish the databases. I've given it a quick test here for both widgets and wallpapers and all seems well, it would be handy if a S-ON user could also test. :) P
Guest inthenite42 Posted July 21, 2013 Report Posted July 21, 2013 Reinstalled Switch and booted to Beta 4. Had less errors on my phone. Think I'll wait for Beta 6. Will you implement the wallpaper and widget fix in Beta 6? Everything else is going well. Smooth performance.

Guest PaulOBrien Posted July 21, 2013 Report Posted July 21, 2013 Working beautifully :) good job. Hurrah! I will merge this into Beta 6 tomorrow morning (no other changes anticipated at this stage), I would like to get an OK from a S-ON user on the tool though. P
Guest inthenite42 Posted July 21, 2013 Report Posted July 21, 2013 Wish I could do the ADB shell fix but I'm on Ubuntu and for some reason it isn't recognizing my phone :(

Guest philos64 Posted July 21, 2013 Report Posted July 21, 2013 (edited) I will try to flash my previous rom with Sense and try your FlipSwitch ;) In summary, yes all good. I will search tomorrow some eventual bugs :P Edited July 21, 2013 by philos64
Guest PaulOBrien Posted July 21, 2013 Report Posted July 21, 2013 Wish I could do the ADB shell fix but I'm on Ubuntu and for some reason it isn't recognizing my phone :( If you reinstall B1 / B5 it will also fix. P
Guest PaulOBrien Posted July 21, 2013 Report Posted July 21, 2013 Stock Sense on Sense and Nova on GE So, you could... - in GPe, via the settings, apps menu disable the stock launcher (this will fix the GPe popup) - reboot to recovery and move the Nova APK from /data/app to /system/SWITCH/gpe/app (and extract from the APK (zip) any included .so libs to /system/SWITCH/gpe/lib) (this will fix the Sense popup) That would do it. :) P
Guest mmayhew Posted July 21, 2013 Report Posted July 21, 2013 I'm also having the widget issue. I'm using the stock Sense launcher and Nova.

Guest stirkac Posted July 21, 2013 Report Posted July 21, 2013 yup the new Switch is working nicely. you really do work fast :) better go get some rest before you burn out
Guest PaulOBrien Posted July 21, 2013 Report Posted July 21, 2013 One thing I will do for Beta 6 is make it possible to see which release you are on from the settings - about menu. I'm also going to add auto over-the-air updating for the Switcher app. P
Guest PaulOBrien Posted July 21, 2013 Report Posted July 21, 2013 yup the new Switch is working nicely. you really do work fast :) better go get some rest before you burn out Yeah, I need to sleep. ;) P
Guest UbuntuBhoy Posted July 21, 2013 Report Posted July 21, 2013 Wish I could do the ADB shell fix but I'm on Ubuntu and for some reason it isn't recognizing my phone :( Works fine for me in ubuntu. Have you connected via adb with a ROM loaded first?
Guest jawonder Posted July 21, 2013 Report Posted July 21, 2013 The fix is posted above or will be in the next Beta release tomorrow. P Thanks, Looking forward .
