Guest The Soup Thief Posted July 30, 2013 Report Posted July 30, 2013 This has always niggled me in Android - many mobile carriers don't program their sim cards with a phone number such that with each of the (sim free) Android phones I've had, you look in Settings>Status>My phone number and it comes up "Unknown" Not particularly important, but it irked a bit. Anyway, the only ways to fix it have been either to : put your sim into an old dumbphone (apparently unlocked Nokia 3210s and the like allowed you to reset to your chosen number or put it into an unlocked iphone. Don't know anyone with either of those. or use some old app from the playstore (Phone Number Changer or something) that I could never get to work Xposed framework to the rescue! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2106490 describes how OXINARF at XDA has figured this out In brief, download and install Xposed Framework installer, install the SIM number changer .apk from that thread and away you go Worked first time on my Nexus 4 on Stock JB 4.3 You may be unimpressed with this but it's always niggled at me that there was no easy solution to this within Android.
Guest akarana Posted July 30, 2013 Report Posted July 30, 2013 This has always niggled me in Android - Me too - but then I thought maybe it's a method of reducing the value of stolen phones... Thx for the info.
