Guest soulhand Posted August 11, 2013 Report Posted August 11, 2013 My Huawei G300 seems to have died. I had it in the pannier for a bike ride yesterday, when I got back it was completely flat (unexpected - although we had been out long enough that if something was chewing up battery it might have gone flat). Charged it, used it for a bit in the evening. Later in the evening it was completely dead again. No lights, nothing. Charging it overnight has had no effect. Removed the battery and replaced, no difference. Any ideas what might have failed and how to wake it up again? If it's permanently dead, what are the current recommendations for a similar phone with a good development community/custom roms etc? It;s out of guarantee (it's about 18 months old) so I don't imagine Vodafone will do anything useful. Paul
Guest sharkyo01 Posted August 11, 2013 Report Posted August 11, 2013 In the UK we have 24 month warranty on the phone. Have you got custom firmware, stock firmware, unlocked your bootloader if so how did you unlock it? Full me in with all the details about your phone... Put a middle file in your SD card in a folder called 'dload' . Then hold volume up volume down and the power button. See if it will allow a force update. If it does let me know... http://www.solidfiles.com/d/5febd75d7b/ http://www.solidfiles.com/d/e37af95ed3/
Guest soulhand Posted August 11, 2013 Report Posted August 11, 2013 Officially-unlocked bootloader, running slimbean. But I don't think that affects anything since it doesn't even get far enough to matter It's so dead the force update doesn't do anything. No lights at all, no boot logo, nothing
Guest sharkyo01 Posted August 11, 2013 Report Posted August 11, 2013 Try just taking the battery out wait for a minute or two then just plugging it straight in to the charger. Did you used a portable mobile charger on it yesterday? Also how long ago did you official unlock the bootloader?

Still dead. > Did you used a portable mobile charger on it yesterday? No, mains charger > Also how long ago did you official unlock the bootloader? Not entirely sure, but more than a month ago.
Guest sharkyo01 Posted August 11, 2013 Report Posted August 11, 2013 (edited) Well ring up huawei I am guessing the warranty clauses are the same as here. Sorry for all the questions but there has been some phone which have seemed to brick after unlocking the bootloader (which it is being looked in to). Also trying to get the full picture as well so I could help you better. Edited August 11, 2013 by sharkyo01
Guest soulhand Posted August 11, 2013 Report Posted August 11, 2013 Thanks for your help. Off to the VF store this afternoon (I'm also in the UK, and live in Vodafone town so I can always visit VF HQ if I don't get a good response!) When was the G300 launched? I think less than 24 months ago? (Since I won't have the receipt, I need some other evidence it's still in warranty)
Guest sharkyo01 Posted August 11, 2013 Report Posted August 11, 2013 (edited) Generally Huawei are really good about it in the UK if you took it back to Vodafone you would have fun because they only give you 12 months. Plus there require a receipt also if vodafone sniffed out custom rom etc they would charge you but Huawei have had a number of phones off this forum with custom roms etc on there and never said anything! So don't tell them is the key :P From what am looking at I think it was launched in July 2012. So its been out for 2 years and a bit. http://www.huawei.co...ct-us/index.htm Ring them up and they will send you out a giffy bag Also i thought you were from the USA because I saw "San Francisco 2" Lol my bad! Guest soulhand Posted August 11, 2013 Report Posted August 11, 2013 Indeed VF told me 12 months. So it was off to Carphonewarehouse and I now have a Y300. And I will be leaving VF as soon as my contract is up. Seems OK for the few minutes I've had to play with it. I'd still like my G300 fixed, even if just for a spare phone. I'll give Huawei a call. Thanks
Guest sharkyo01 Posted August 11, 2013 Report Posted August 11, 2013 (edited) I picked a Y300 up for my missus and I was well impressed with it. Some people have reported that huawei seem to be taking too long to repair the phones so there just send a new one out within the 14 days just for the heads up ;) And also no problem I have been around the block a few times with vodafone :P Edited August 11, 2013 by sharkyo01
