Some non-uk websites are talking about a forthcoming blade IV - specs look identical to the V to me.

Sure looks like it! I wondered what happened to the IV. Perhaps they typo'd and dropped the I when they pitched it to Virgin or something. :D

In quite a lot of markets.. the number 4 is considered unlucky... like the number 13 in the UK/US, so quite a few companies skip the number 4 in product lines.

Yes I can confirm my chinese friend said 4 is unlucky, and zte is chinese...

Or you're just failing on the assumption it's a Roman V. It could be just some random letter. :P There's Blade G and Blade S as well...
