Guest Paul Proctor Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 Hello all, I have inadvertently found a fix for those SPVs with the power on problem. Click the storage card so that it is disconnected (no need to actually remove it), press and hold the power button and......voila, it powers on first time every time (at least it does on mine!!). seems that disconnecting the storage card has some effect on the power on process. of course, this is only a temporary workaround as the fabulous update which will DEFINITELY be available next Monday will CERTAINLY fix this anyway!?!?!?!?! :)
Guest dhutchison Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 Yep, works for me. I wonder why that has anything to do with turning it on?
Guest spacemonkey Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 mmmm Tui... brewed in Mangatainoka since 1889...
Guest dhutchison Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 Combining my two obsessions, Tui and the SPV.....
Guest Hax Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 Could be that the SPV bootloader looks on the SD card to see if there is any software updates to apply - some sort of automated process added in for convenience at HTC, so production line workers don't need to go through all those menus just to change the software, and SD cards are MUCH cheaper than PC's to plug the phones into, thereby meaning that LOTS of phones could be done at the same time, saving both time and money. All speculation, but sounds sorta plausable Hax
