This looks interesting.

It's only the reference design, but at least it's another player providing hardware for this operating system. And Intel has the muscle that frontend phone developers will trust.

Looks like they've strayed a bit from microsofts recommendations on button placement for the home and back button. And that thing in the middle, is it a joystick or just a vertical scroller?

V Interesting!! It just might grab my attention when released!!

Wow! Looks pretty good I'd say.. Somehow reminds me of Sony mobiles....

Yeah, looks quite sexy. Not sure about that joystick/roller thing tho.

The other important thing is that it's a reference design from intel. They are ultimately not gonna be very interested in making handsets for everyone, they just want to prove that their chips work and if they get picked up then you'll probably start seeing loads of different designs of handsets with the intel gear under the hood.

Bodes very well for Smartphone OS getting someone like Intel behind it.

I must be in the minority here but I think it looks like an ugly rectangular slab, not very phone like at all. :?

Is that a built in camera I see on the back? That would be a good bonus.

Not sure about that roller thingy though, and the spv does look a lot swankier in my opinion.

That's enough to put me off :) ;)

Don't like it anyway, looks cheap and tacky, like a toy.

No way is that a camera... looks like the plug for the external antenna to me.

I second that. Too much of the toy. Seems intel ran out of money when it came to the Design Budget !

Me says Noooo!

Don't be put off by the design as I'm sure spacemonkey is right at that Intel themselves will never produce the phone - so it'll be up to whoever OEM's their chipset to do the product design part...

I'd guess this is Intel trying to make a name for themselves in the low power/mobile market as lets face it, they've never really impressed with their low power devices before!!! Anyone remember the Intel powered desktops you could use as heaters??? High power, high heat output is more Intel's style...

ARM and Transmeta with their Crusoe chip are somewhat more credible in the low power consumption, high performance market...

Just a little bit too big me thinks... just a smidgen... Hmmm

Anyway (ignoring the fact that Intel are never actually going to produce that phone, therefore invalidating all style/production comments) that "joystick" looks like the Nokia NaviRoller that I had on my 7110 - not especially handy for games (apart from Snake) but bloody excellent for use with a phone!!!

Oh the days of touch typing SMSs on my 7110 using both thumbs on the keys AND the NaviRoller!!! :-D

For me it looks like the roller in use on Japanese i-mode phones.

I think that it looks terrible. The SPV's much better. :)

That pic fits nicely on my 21" monitor @ 1600x1200 res ;p

Back on topic the only way i can see it working is if the roller's surround is a 4-way button.

*shrugs*
