Annoying call problem

Hi!

 

I have a problem with making calls - Half the time when I am on a call it will suddenly switch in to flight mode, which I need to disable in order to make another call.

 

I think that it is probably something to do with the touch screen setting being changed when pressing on my ear and was wondering if anyone else had this problem or could suggest a solution?

 

The screen seems to go black when on a call, but when I pull the phone away it shows the time and date settings page, and normally the 'Automatic time zone' has been un-ticked.

 

I am using the latest version of the factory ROM, rooted if that helps?
