Guest targetbsp Posted October 23, 2013 Report Posted October 23, 2013 Credit to BananaBread at HUKD for spotting this. ZTE released a firmware update 10 days or so ago: http://www.ztedevices.com/support/smart_phone/cd8f32ce-9d6a-41ac-941d-d24e7317ca44.html?type=software Who is going to brave being the first to try that? :D

Guest targetbsp Posted October 23, 2013 Report Posted October 23, 2013 The top one is the firmware, the bottom one is the windows driver for the phone. If you have CWM it can't be used to flash the update according to the text in red here: http://www.modaco.com/topic/365228-recovery-clockworkmod-6036-for-zte-blade-v/ You'd need to restore the stock recovery. Which is why I can;t be bothered just yet. There's no change log and I have nothing wrong I need fixed. Think I'm going to take an if it ain't broke don't fix it approach here! Here's a mirror anyway for ZTE's slow server: http://www.mediafire.com/?zn38l515ig4e1b9 The zip contains the instructions (from a stock phone) and the update.zip
Guest bladebuddy Posted October 23, 2013 Report Posted October 23, 2013 Second one is just drivers . Updating now will report back if all goes well.
Guest runlevel5 Posted October 23, 2013 Report Posted October 23, 2013 done update. smooth with no issues. no discernible difference as yet. may be a little snappier.
Guest runlevel5 Posted October 23, 2013 Report Posted October 23, 2013 sorry for double post. here's a screenshot.
Guest mike-kt Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 (edited) Hi, If i update this version I lost all my data? have you got link to changelog of new version? Can I use this for czech republic version? Thanks Edited October 24, 2013 by mike-kt
Guest targetbsp Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 (edited) There's no changelog for it that I can find. And it says UK in the file name and the link is to support for the Virgin (UK) Blade. Presumably they'd have a different support page somewhere for other versions of the phone? You can choose your country and phone from here: http://www.ztedevices.com/support/index.html Edited October 24, 2013 by targetbsp

Still haven't sussed out how to get back to stock recovery to do the update. J
Guest bladebuddy Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 Just realized I have to push stock back via adb.

I've not looked into how easy or difficult it is to learn how to do it. It would be handy though Edited October 24, 2013 by targetbsp

It would be handy though I am going to spend tonight looking into it . There are some handy threads on xda that show how. Just thought I would ask you as I know you use to make some decent kangs for the blade 1 cheers anyway J.
Guest targetbsp Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 I spose the simplest way would be to install it on a stock phone, install CWM and use the create image option in CWM? My housemates is still stock but I'm away for a few days so couldn't do it until next week even if he agreed to it.

Guest targetbsp Posted October 30, 2013 Report Posted October 30, 2013 (edited) install CWM and use the create image option in CWM? Oh, our CWM doesn't have this option. :( I'm guessing until I work out how to create an update.zip, I can upload the nandroid (data is wiped) and people can advanced restore system and boot? Edited October 30, 2013 by targetbsp
Guest targetbsp Posted October 30, 2013 Report Posted October 30, 2013 (edited) OK, here's a nandroid of a data wiped install of firmware 2.1 (with root): http://www.mediafire.com/?x1qqueu2h2fnv2z To upgrade to 2.1 without wiping using CWM: If you've swapped your SD card, download this CWM installer to re-swap it after updating the rom: http://blade.windows98.co.uk/downloads/bladev-swap-sd.zip Unrar the nandroid into your clockwordmod\backup folder on your sd card boot into recovery use advanced restore from the backup and restore menu restore boot and system If you swapped the SD, use the install from sd card option to install swap-sd.zip reboot the phone If anyone knows how to turn this into an update.zip before I have chance to learn how to do it then please do. :) Edited October 30, 2013 by targetbsp
