I've had a few customers in with 2013 nexus 7's and have updated them to 4.4 with the update pushed by Google.

I don't listen to the podcasts at all.  I prefer to read than to listen, so I can pick out the bits that I'm interested in.  Also having a 1 hour recording without "bookmarks" means I can't easily find the topic I may be particularly interested in.
