Guest PaulOBrien Posted November 29, 2013 Report Posted November 29, 2013 I seem to be unable to install APKs directly on device on the 2 devices I have here (16GB rooted, 8GB locked). Anyone else?Installing via ADB works OK...P
Guest gameeater Posted November 29, 2013 Report Posted November 29, 2013 Hardware reset . it works for my but i dont have root
Guest Samlock Posted November 29, 2013 Report Posted November 29, 2013 Yep, same problem here. Installing from ADB works fine, can't install from any file manager on the device. Parsing failed when parsing the manifest or something along those lines.
Guest PaulOBrien Posted November 29, 2013 Report Posted November 29, 2013 A hard reset did seem to fix it. Odd!P
Guest Samlock Posted November 29, 2013 Report Posted November 29, 2013 A hard reset did seem to fix it. Odd! P How would you define a "hard reset"? Done various things with mine but not getting very far...!
Guest Benowit Posted November 29, 2013 Report Posted November 29, 2013 - When Motorola assistant asks for data safety (just before the Google accounts question comes up), don't click accept, but tap on "data safety guidelines" and tick both settings to off. Then accept. try it after reset

Guest hyperfighting Posted November 29, 2013 Report Posted November 29, 2013 Has anyone used this tip and fixed the app installing parse error yet?.. I am able to install apk`s by doing this.
Guest trueno2k Posted November 29, 2013 Report Posted November 29, 2013 I am able to install apk`s by doing this.Awesome will factory reset my Moto G again and go through the whole startup/setup procedure for the fourth time!.. :P
Guest Samlock Posted November 29, 2013 Report Posted November 29, 2013 Still doesn't work for me... Ah well, I don't mind adb install method :)
Guest TeamKilo Posted November 30, 2013 Report Posted November 30, 2013 The apk error is very strange. Some people don't have any issues from out of the box. Some people can't install anything and for some a reset works.
Guest Camarillo Posted November 30, 2013 Report Posted November 30, 2013 Hi all I have just rooted and have su root access in adb I can install apps from Google Play and via airdroid no problem in adb i only have read only and also es file explorer it wont let me enable root access. Huge thanks to Paul
Guest trueno2k Posted November 30, 2013 Report Posted November 30, 2013 Did a factory reset last night, went through all the initial setup procedures and installed all the default Google stuff then added file explorer to try out an apk install and it seems the method of turning off the Motorola security features did the trick. Will look in to it a bit further and try out a few more installs just to double check it's still okay to install apks not through play store or Google drive... Thanks to Benowit for the tip!.. ;-)

Guest TeamKilo Posted November 30, 2013 Report Posted November 30, 2013 done that 3 times and deselected those 2 options at a start as says and still get same thing.... can anyone help me out ??? where are you finding these two options?
Guest WillDroid Posted December 1, 2013 Report Posted December 1, 2013 where are you finding these two options? You get asked whether or not to enable them in the setup wizard when you power on for the first time/after factory reset.
Guest kuji Posted December 1, 2013 Report Posted December 1, 2013 fwiw what worked for me without hard reset was to go into: settings - > security .untick verify apps .tick/untick/retick unknown sources reboot
Guest TeamKilo Posted December 1, 2013 Report Posted December 1, 2013 (edited) You get asked whether or not to enable them in the setup wizard when you power on for the first time/after factory reset. This is what I get/do once it turns on after reset: Confirm language - English uk Connect to wifi "About your privacy" screen shows - tap "privacy settings" - turn off Privacy Controls "Help Improve Motorola Products" and "Moto Care" - back - accept and continue. Got Google - no (also tried yes) Make it Google - not now Asks for Moto migration - not now. Settings - security - tick unknown sources. Also tried with a combination of unticking Verify Apps Open chrome - download Amazon AppStore (or any apk) - try and install and get parsing error. Anything else I can try? Guest shteve Posted December 1, 2013 Report Posted December 1, 2013 If you upload the apk to your google drive, it'll install from there. You don't even have to wait until it's finished uploading if you're doing it from the phone. Nutty, but that works on the mrs' phone.

Guest TeamKilo Posted December 1, 2013 Report Posted December 1, 2013 something extremely strange has just happened... after migrating my phone and just using it normally for the past few hours while wallowing at the fact i cant install apks, just now i thought id have another go at amazon appstore, installed fine! i thought id try aDownloader, that too installed fine :) im not sure what caused this, i did install a couple of apks via gDrive, i wonder if that had any effect or maybe Moto Migrate migrated some setting from my S2?
