Does anyone know of someone able to do this for me in North East England, I am happy to travel and pay for the service, I want the Tesco stuff taken off and the new KitKat loaded onto it.

If anyone can help please reply here or pm me.

There's no KitKat rom for the Hudl, no-one can do what you're asking.

Hi thanks for the reply, I thought I had read that it was available but see that is not the case, so if anyone can do the first part i.e. root the hudl and get rid of the Tesco stuff please let me know

Hiya, I'd be happy to help you root your hudl if you want - it's not that hard to do really - services like the '1-click' kingoapp.com have been used by many on this forum and work.

If you have a dekstop/laptop etc with Windows etc then using that method should be straight forward as long as you load the standard android drivers and your Windows machine recognises the hudl once connected. There's many threads/posts on here dealing with drivers/issues found during this process if it doesn't run smoothly.

Once rooted, removing all the Tesco stuff is as simple as disabling all the 'Tesco....' labled apps  ;)

Removing the [T] button if required (if you've done all the above - it'll no longer do anything) you have 2x options - download and install the 'full!screen' app from the Play store or replace the 'SystemUI.apk' file on the hudl with the one from this forum  :D

I'm in that area, but I'm sure with some review of the related threads on this forum you'll have all the info and backup required to give it a go - there's many here that can help you out during the process............  :ninja:

Hi CM  thanks for the reply, I have tried several of the suggested programs and find that I end up with I think a driver problem i.e. it will not flash. I have tried using a linux (ubuntu) drive but due to unfamiliarity with Linux was not successful, I have also tried with windows and Maverick OS but keep hitting problems with the program concerned not seeing the Hudl.

I'll pm my details and see if it might be convenient to meet up and resolve the problem.

I have now managed to root my Hudl, I decided to clear out any programs which might interfere with Kingo Root so removed Malwarebytes and Eset Smart security and when I ran Kingo again it worked first time.

Thank you to Captain Midnight for the offer to help it was most appreciated and your down to earth approach helped me to find the solution, many thanks.

Happy to hear you're rooted now, it does help talking it through with people, which is why this forum is full of very useful info and more importantly brings together users of very diverse backgrounds and experience.
