Guest MickJack Posted December 26, 2013 Report Posted December 26, 2013 Just lately have noticed in my battery stats that Media server seems to be taking the lions share, at the moment on battery for 15 hours, media server showing keep awake for 15 hours, 59% of battery use. Cannot remember seeing this in battery stats until a few days ago, still getting good time on battery so no biggie, just would like to know? have looked for zero media files etc, removed some live wallpaper or is this normal.
Guest waynepyrah Posted December 26, 2013 Report Posted December 26, 2013 I had this and had to uninstall Skype... apparently snapchat does the same
Guest MickJack Posted December 27, 2013 Report Posted December 27, 2013 (edited) Thanks Waynepyrah, dumped skype yesterday, full charge overnight, media server not to be seen in battery stats.will update if any change.Edit: added a screen shot much the same time from full charge as above, will have to play with skype when there is a dull moment.......... Guest markhuges Posted December 31, 2013 Report Posted December 31, 2013 What the heck is Media server???? I have that as well ONLY 38% but i DONT have Skype
Guest grabster Posted January 1, 2014 Report Posted January 1, 2014 Yep. got this one as well. rebooted phone at about 12.30 am and woke at 7.50 to the plug your charger in fanfare . 60% down to 2% in less than 8 hours. The phone is totally stock. I installed skype 3 days ago ,not to use but more to see how it would function and never got round to taking it off yet. And all this after boasting to the wife how great my battery is compared to hers... Typical.
Guest grabster Posted January 1, 2014 Report Posted January 1, 2014 Whoops... just dawned on me that i installed xbmc on there yesterday as well. so thats perhaps where my problem lies. Snip--- skype and xbmc both gone now so hopefully that will stop the battery drain.

Guest oe79 Posted January 1, 2014 Report Posted January 1, 2014 I have it as well. I don't have either Skype or XBMC. Mine has consumed 12% of the battery.
Guest grabster Posted January 2, 2014 Report Posted January 2, 2014 So it looks like removing xbmc (or skype) has fixed my battery draining -media server-issue. One thing i forgot though is that i had installed nova launcher also at the same time i installed xbmc so i that was removed yesterday as well. I am not sure if skype was the culprit as it had been there without issue for a few days so im kinda pointing the finger at nova launcher now. Im just glad that things seem to have went back to normal ,although i am tempted to stick nova back on as i really like it having used it on previous phones and at least it will pinpoint what app the problem was actually with.
Guest grabster Posted January 4, 2014 Report Posted January 4, 2014 Reinstalled nova 48 hrs ago and all is still ok so assume that xbmc must have been the culprit after all. Dont need it on my phone so no need testing it again, put it down to experience.
