G312 microphone issues

On other phones in the past I've always had the option to pick what mic to use when a micless headphone was connected. At the very least I was informed that I'd still have to us the handset mic.

On my U8681 there is no option and I do a lot of music recording on the go. This lack of options makes it impossible to preview and tweak sound before I begin recording. Is there an option out there, Besides a crappy headphone mic. I just want to tell the phone to still use the front handset mic. One of my apps has this option but aparrently forgot to let my phone hardware know. Please help an up and coming artist/ Android hacker (developer),noobs out to rest a minor frustration.
