Guest martinhoward Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 I posted something similar to this yesterday on an existing Newbie forum but haven't had any response. Anyone help me out on this one please? "As relatively newbie to rooting the G300 can someone please answer the following for me. I successfully installed a custom ICS ROM using CWM 6.0.1.2. I have now tried to install CM11 but it wouldn't install quoting "Status 7" so I reinstalled ICS. I understand from these Forums that I now need CWM 6.0.4.4 to install CM11 whereas I'm currently using CWM 6.0.1.2. The question I have is can I upgrade to 6.0.4.4 using 6.0.1.2 or is it better to download ROM manager from the Google play store or something else? After going this far I don't want to brick it.
Guest WhaTec Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 Ok, I suggest not to touch anything for now, first u need to do is check emmc or ure flash memory click here http://www.modaco.com/topic/366014-a-warning-to-all-g300-owners-please-read-hynix-flash-memory-problem/ Ok if u got Xinyh, install CWM 5(i suggest 5.0.2.8) u got on modaco or patch from tillaz will do it for u, and dont do cwm 11 or 10(the one is 4.3 android) im not shure if 4.1, and 4.2 can kill ure phone on xinyh i want to use it but im afraid :D, and cwm 6 will kill xinyh. If ure SSJ00M memory it is samsung and its safe, so u can just easily install CWM any u want u know just reflash it and install any rom u want if u dont want CWM just install TWRP i think he is cm11 complatiable. AND DO IT ON URE RISK WHAT EVER U DO, NOTHING IS COMPLETELY SAFE BUT ATLEAST 90% .
Guest martinhoward Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 Thanks for that. Is there an easy way to find out the memory type now that the phone has been rooted or do I need to download "Android Terminal Emulator" as it says from your link above. It's a UK bought phone and from what I can gather they are normally Samsung, but in view of what you have said I will endeavour to check.
Guest martinhoward Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 Download the Android emulator and it has confirmed the memory is Samsung so will reflash using CWM 6.0.4.4. Fingers crossed.
