Guest hucknallred Posted February 22, 2014 Report Posted February 22, 2014 (edited) I know, I should have paid £2.49 for an unlock code... Bought 2 G300s a year ago, one for me one for the missus a few days apart.Mine unlocked, hers locked to Vodafone UK All was well, now she's porting to 3 from Asda Mobile (Vodafone). Being a veteran of using CWM, TWRP, rooting etc. I decided to have a go at the unlock it yourself guide using the DFS tool. To cut a long story short, it didn't work, so I reinstall the IMEI, but it restores the IMEI of my unlocked phone?? HAd to get them side by side with the *#06# screen, yup both the same. I'd put her SIM in my phone & at some point & must have backed up the wrong IMEI. So no backup.... Well yes there is. Right after I got the phones I backed up the IMEIs on my work laptop nearly a year ago, files on my desktop named 5irommum & 5iromdad, grabbed these & stuck them on my google drive safe. Now we may have swapped phones at some point, so I try to restore both, but both restore the same (wrong) IMEI. Did I back up the same phone twice a year ago? NO. I run the backup files though an MD5 checksum tool, 5.img is the same on both, 10 & 11 are different. So am I missing something obvious here? I go through the whole process, restore, zero, restore, reboot, wipe cache etc & still wrong imei. I even dropped back to a GB rom as I thought the backup was from there, but looking at GB, it's always been on ICS. Also the IMEI goes to 0 after a firmware change, just put it back to ICS & it's 0 again. There's always the temporary IMEI restore via DFS, but I'd like to do a proper restore.
