Re-flashing Tablets - how safe and how often can it be done?

Looking at lending out tablets - we want to to configure them with a curated set of apps, and will need to wipe off user data after each loan. It seems the only way to do relatively quickly and easily, would be to create a custom ROM we reflash after each loan.

 

Does anyone know where I can find any information about the risks, and wear and tear this would cause if we reflash them after each 3 month loan? Thanks
