Guest cseilern Posted February 20, 2003 Report Posted February 20, 2003 I have noticed over the past couple of days (no chnages in sync setup or partnerships) that a few contacts have disapered on both the phone and the PC. Worse this is happening on contacts I sometme open as well as contacts I rarely open. Since I have a mountain of contacts (>1000, made of friends, work contacts, restaurants, cinemas, hotels, airlines, doctors, etc... from the last 7 years) I cannot really fathom the extent of this problem (i.e. how many contacts get killed and how often), but I am completely at a loss as to why some contacts and not others are getting deleted. So far the only commonality I have noticed is that it is only UK contacts that get trashed (-the majority of my contacts are foreign). Has anyone seen this before?
Guest madu Posted February 20, 2003 Report Posted February 20, 2003 I get this and have seen some posts of Outlook behaving irraticly in one or other way but the symptom is pretty much 'messed up contacts'. Today for example I noticed that 1 of my contacts that I'm sure I had just was not there.. Tough luck. But I agree that with 100+ contacts it gets very risky since you never know what it might miss out next time. The thing even worse is that it just misses out certain fields/entries within a contact - like home phone or birthday.. And there is no way on earth I can afford to check the consistency of my contacts between PC & SP. Pretty damn BAD!! But as Paul pointed out in one of the other posts "ActiveSync is widely hated in Pocket PC world" - which just makes me wanna say - bring on v4.00! - butfor now it seems that AS is the best one of syncing solutions. Pretty damn scary that things get lost though - makes you wanna think if it is at all worth entering anything but (H/M/W) phone numbers.
Guest cseilern Posted February 21, 2003 Report Posted February 21, 2003 Your symptoms match mine down to a T. In that case, have you ever heard of any "integrity-checking-gizmo" for Activesync? i.e. something that would check how many contacts/calendar items get modified/added/deleted during each sync?
