Camera Error: Can't connect to camera

Keep getting this error.

I think my phone may have broken hardware as i have completely wiped everything and done a fresh install of slim bean but still no joy.

Any ideas?

I read somewhere it might have something to do with the bootloader version not matching something else. Does this sound right? Apparently that can break the camera.

Are you sure it's not simply some other app using the camera?

WhatsApp, SnapChat etc.?

Why not backup and try another ROM or a clean install of your current one and see if the camera works there?

You can always restore.

Don't have those apps installed.

Funny thing is the camera app is not in the drawer.

I've tried clean installs of 2 different rom's and when i say clean i mean everything formatted/wiped and cleaned.

I think it must be hardware. 

Flashlight won't work.

I also uninstalled everything that could use camera and the camera on its own still wouldn't work.

Try installing a camera app from Play Store and see what happens?

OK - maybe it is a hardware fault so.

Not sure if there's some way to diagnose that and pin it down?

E.g. stuff you can do in a terminal session in Linux/Android or some utility app...?
