Guest hecatae Posted May 29, 2014 Report Posted May 29, 2014 Here is your chance! Get the primary reference phone used by Mozilla in the development of Firefox OS to build apps, test features, verify compatibility and more. The Flame developer reference phone is a milestone in Firefox OS device releases, ignoring the poorly supported ZTE Open released last year. The Flame features:Qualcomm MSM8210 Snapdragon 1.2GHZ Dual core processor1GB RAM, 8GB ROM5 megapixel auto focus rear camera with Flash, 2 mega pixel front camera4.5 inch display at 854x480 FWVGA resolutionGSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz, QuadbandUMTS 850/900/1900/2100MHz, Quadband 3GDual Standby, Dual SIM802.11b/g/n WiFiBluetooth 3.0GPSMicro SD card up to 32GBI'm still trying to guess the manufacturer (ZTE again perhaps?)... the Flame will be released running Firefox OS 1.3, box contents include a usb cable and earphones, the battery is a nominal 1800 mAh.Pre-sale price is USD $170, which is roughly £106.83 / €131 and includes free global shipping.Let us know if you are thinking of buying the device, it is both bootloader and carrier unlocked, but the only place that seems to be selling it is Ever-Buying, who are completely unknown to us![Via: Mozilla Developer Network] Click here to view the item
Guest The Soup Thief Posted May 29, 2014 Report Posted May 29, 2014 ZDnet and a few other sources claim it is manufactured by "T2mobile", but that seems to be a design company, not a manufacturer

Guest Voxpop2011 Posted May 30, 2014 Report Posted May 30, 2014 Nothing but complaints. Why on earth has firefox chosen this site as the distributor?
Guest holybear Posted May 30, 2014 Report Posted May 30, 2014 I ordered one before I found out about the complaints. Let's see what happens.
Guest hecatae Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 handset is manufactured by T2Mobile, a joint venture between Thundersoft and TCL/Alcatel.
Guest glossywhite Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 Looks alright, so long as one can get Android flashed to it :p
Guest hecatae Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 Looks alright, so long as one can get Android flashed to it :Pit's been a year since Mozilla released the zte open as a developer device and they still have not released kernel source, it makes building android that much harder, the zte open c has an android rom immediately available, meaning we should be able to get kernel source through gpl compliance but still, makes you wonder what Mozilla are doing.

It made me wonder what Mozilla were doing when this platform was released. Who needs *another* mobile OS?
