Guest glossywhite Posted June 5, 2014 Report Posted June 5, 2014 (edited) "DriveDroid" Have you ever wanted to store an Ubuntu ISO image on your Android phone, then connect it to a PC and allow the PC to boot Ubuntu from the Phone? Well this is the App for you; "DriveDroid". This incredible find allows you to choose one (or all?) of the distros shown in the fist link below, and have them with you at ALL times, on the device you have with you ALL the time - your Android mobile phone. I've just tested "DriveDroid" with "Slax" and "Ubuntu 14.04 64 Bit" ISO images, and both boot flawlessly. Give "DriveDroid" a go, and always have a distro to hand (plus a micro USB cable, naturally!): # Supported distro list: http://softwarebakery.com/apps/drivedroid/distributions.html # Play store link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.softwarebakery.drivedroid >>> [uPDATE] <<<How to install Windows from "DriveDroid" http://softwarebakery.com/windows-install-on-drivedroid "BukerPXE LITE" Test your PC RAM and HDD with "BukerPXE LITE" - this amazing app launches a PXE (neboot) server running from your Android phone (which must be WiFi connected to the same LAN/LAN segment as the PC you wish to boot from it, via ethernet (CAT 5) cable). Next, you plug the PC under test into a hard-wired LAN ("ethernet" or "CAT 5" as it is also known) port, then boot it up using the relevant hotkey for the particular machine, and tell it to "boot from LAN" / "Boot from PXE" etc. I can't see that the app does much more than this, since I cannot find the "Full" version which is mentioned both in the app AND on Play Store. All the same, this is a great boon to have with you when you have an old clunker of a PC which won't boot from USB and you don't have a stack of bootable DVDs/CDs with you (who does any more?): # Play Store link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bukerservebeer.bukerpxelite Edited June 6, 2014 by glossywhite
